Greetings, Programs.

Now that I'm in the market for a new AVR this Christmas, I've been contemplating adding an amp into my home theatre. I've been looking at a 7 channel ADA1000 but want some advice from you owners out there.

For my AVR choices, I've been looking at either a Marantz SR8013 or the SR7013--but with today's announcement of the new IMAX audio/video home format, the SR7013 looks to be in the lead.

I only have a single outlet to plug my HT gear into which is basically the AVR, JVC projector, Oppo Blu-ray disk player and PS4, so would adding in an amp possibly trip the breaker?

How much heat does your ADA1000 put out at a reasonable listening level?

Does the ADA1000 alter the sound of your AVR? If I really like the Marantz sound--usually described as more musical than a Denon--will this amp alter that sound much?

Any comments are welcome.

There is almost no heat from mine. It has a dedicated shelf mind you.
My AVR is warmer and the amp is handling the L/C/R.
My PVR and PS4 are considerably warmer. Also both on dedicated shelves so a fair comparison IMO.

Both of my ADA1000 stay at room temperature. even when cranked up to -15db and the room is pretty much shaking.

As far as power goes. I have 3 separate circuits for my AV equipment. I have always given each of my ADA's their own power line.

Trying to decide between the ADA1000 3-channel and Outlaw Model 5000. I only really need L/C/R, with the Denon 4400h handling the other 8 surround/Atmos channels. Thoughts?

I don't own either. It's impossible to compare sound quality and dynamic capability "on paper" for various reasons. You may want to factor into your decision the trade-in and loyalty discount that Axiom offers.

The ADA1000 has been seriously designed to give far more power than what is on paper.

Oh yeah? Do tell because I am on the fence about buying one. How's the noise floor?

Good points. Also, any warranty claim on an Outlaw amp would be a pain (ship a giant 50+ lb box to the U.S.).

Also my experience with Axiom says they'll do what it takes to right any wrong.

I agree with Matt.
Basically all of Axioms on paper specs. are a general base level. For us. While the products are overbuilt to go much further than their specs.
In my experience with my ADA1250 3 channel there's no shortage of power. In the year I've owned mine, I've had no distortions at all, at any level of SPL.

Great to hear! How's the noise floor on the ADA? THD+N is the hardest thing to minimize in a design.

So more than enough to drive dual M5HP's and a VP160 in a 2300 cubic foot space? Would ADA1250 be completely unnecessary?
With decently efficient speakers like the Axioms an ADA1000 is more than sufficient. With that said , i can can use my small car to go to the store just fine but 400 HP is more fun. You can never have too much power smile

A 1250 is totally unnecessary. I bought a 1000-3 to drive the M5HP and 160 and my space is larger than yours. Anything larger is for bragging rights only.

Thats what she said.
I see no problem with that.
