I am settled on the epic 60 speaker system. However, after reading the rave reviews on the vp150 center speaker I am thinking of using the vp150 instead of the vp100 that comes with the epic 60. My room size is 19ft long and 15ft wide with 8ft ceilings. The listening area is about 13ft from the tv.

Just do it. That's a very popular option.

As you have noticed, most of regulars here would highly recommend the VP150 over VP100. I own the VP150, and can tell you that it is an excellent center channel (although I've never listened to the VP100, so cannot compare the two). The VP150 renders the dialogs and other things going on in the movie scenes with superb clarity and details.

Sushi, do you think there is a point where as the room gets smaller the VP100 is the more practical choice?

I'll give my .02 cents even though you asked Sushi. I don't think that the VP100 becomes a better choice in a smaller room. By all accounts, the VP150 is the better speaker than the VP100. Standing alone, I love my VP150. It's not like the VP150 is some overwhelming beast of a center channel. It is a very refined, clear, yet powerful center channel that performs exactly as it should.

Taken to extremes, sure there could be a case where the VP150 is too big for a particular room, but I think that for the most part, the VP150 would win out in most applications. This is different from front speakers, where it has been noted many times that the M80's or M60's can just be too much for a certain size room, particularly where the soundstage would be collapsed if you are sitting too close. I don't think this would generally apply to the center channel, but others can correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks for yor input. However, here is dumb question. What size room is considered small, meduim or large. For instance my room is 19ft long and 14ft wide which is approx. 266 square feet. Would this be considered a medium sized room?

I'd definitely consider that a medium sized room. Mine is roughly 12'x13', and I consider that on the borderline between small and medium.

I agree with gem. After all, VP150 isn't that big (although it is certainly longer than average center channels, the cabinet is fairly slim). Except, perhaps, in the case you are unable to place it nicely because your TV is so small, I believe that the VP150 performs better than the VP100 in any size room.
