Hi all back after a few year hiatis

just ordered a pair of M5HP I had the M22, but had them wall mounted.

just wondering for those that have these what are the best placements you are finding. I know these have a wall mount option but am wondering is that would be too close to the wall.
My room has treatments etc
11.5 x 15.5 x 8 the room size.

really don't want to put them on stands as the one spot is where my sub is best

Not wall mounted, but mine are about 6" from the wall (with one in a corner), and I'm not hearing anything unusual. I think it would be worth a try.

I'd be more worried about weight. I know the mounts say they're good up to 40 lb, but when I mounted mt M22s it felt like I was at the edge of the screw/stud torque limit. I didn't use the wedge, so that would've helped.

I will assume listening room not HT.

For your room:

Sit 36 3/4” off back wall to seated ear location.

Place speaker 27 1/2” to tweeter off sidewall.

Place speaker 36 3/4” to tweeter off front wall.

Mount tweeter on stand 32” off floor. Or 18-20” stands.

For toe in use a laser. Put masking tape on your seatback and mark 1” increments off centerline of room. Toe in to 13 1/4” off centerline for each speaker. Will differ depending on your treatment locations. Toe out for more space. Toe in for stronger vocals.

Dont need a sub if you do this in that size room. My M5s are set up this way. Cant hear speakers -dissapeared. Can feel in my chest if I want them to. Enjoy!

My room is 11.5 x 18 x 8’ for reference.

Btw, great choice! The M5HPs are a perfect match for that size room.

Head vise maybe required if that 1/4 inch is critical ... grin

Curious about how you came up with these measurements ...
Are they from your room?
Some calculation?
Software program?

Calculation and yes in my room. My speakers ended up 44” to front wall at tweeter due to longer room.

I work with fixed ratios of 0.2/0.32/0.45/0.55/0.68/0.8. These are room mode avoidance ratios identified by Grimani, but in the book you picked up too. Just math. You can mix the ratios so long as speaker seperation is around 0.7-0.85 or so of distance from listener to speaker plane. Screen size of 1.13x diag to viewer supports this for transparent setup. smile

Anyhow, for this room 0.2 of 11.5 x 15.5 x 8. works well.

Curious about yours? Your planned screen breaks the ideal setup, but I can PM you the #s if you are curious. Or pm me another room and I can spit you #s so you can temp with LFRs etc.I do this before going to any freestanding install to save time in design phase.

In my 2ch room you can sit anywhere between the speakers and center phantom stays in front of you. Diffuser no doubt a part of that. No vice! smile No modes. Uncanny.
