When I play certain CDs on my computer (has 5.1 audio and speakers) or in our Dodge Caravan (10 speaker system) I get a good deal of surround sound. I haven't been able to duplicate that with my Onkyo 801 and Axioms. Should I be able to? Do these other systems use special DSPs?
Thanks,
Michael
what dsp mode are you using with each system? Is everything calibrated at home?
i just hooked up my onkyo 701, and its got lots of surround modes and DSP modes. check your manual to learn how to manuver thru them, or if our remotes are the same, use the bank of 12 buttons on the bottom to go thru them. the buttons are marked 'surr', 'thx', '>DSP' and 'DSP<'.
you should have no problem in getting surround sound..

Hi MABabs,
Try using Dolby Pro Logic II in either the Music or Movie modes with your Onkyo and CDs. If everything is set up properly, you should be able to experience all sorts of surround effects--depending on the recording, of course.
The listening experience at home is rather different from a small enclosed space like a vehicle--I've often likened the latter to a kind of rolling headphones on wheels--but you can still get all sorts of enjoyable effects at home. I think your home calibration is at fault somewhere.
Well, when you find the Sennheiser on wheels, let me know...
