What is your opinion on the HK AVR 630 used with The Epic 60 system (M60's,VP150,QS8's along with the EP150). Is 75 watts enough power for this system? Any other comments on this receiver? Thanks

people with HK's love 'em. you should have no probs.. and as far as the 75 watts, HK has a tendency to 'undercut' their wattage output. in other words, their equip is probably pushing more watts than the 75 it says. plus HK's keep a good constant power band output when running all channels.. the cheaper units will claim to push 100 watts a channel, but its actually 50-60 when running all channels at full/loud volumes.

just to sum it up, the HK630 with the epic 60 speaker package will be just awesome. have no reservations in that.

Denon and HK are the units suggested by Alan Loft of Axiom. The HK 630 is an excellent choice.

That's the setup I have, minus the EP150, plus an SVS PC-Ultra.

It sounds absolutely incredible. I can't imagine anyone not being happy with it.

HK conservatively rates the AVR-630 at 90 Watts per channel in 2 channel mode. And 75 Watts per channel in 7.1 mode. If you are using 5.1 then the extra power from the two channels not used gets re-directed to the 5 that are.

I'm sort of a nubie at this but I find that -15 db. on the volume control is about as loud as I can stand. That leaves a ton of headroom for peaks. Remember you only get one pair of ears. I wish I knew that back in the seventies when I went to rock concerts twice a month. The Who played so loud that my head was ringing for days. Anyway, I digress. I find that the 75 Watts from my AVR-630 is more than enough power. And it's very clean.
