does anyone know how much it costs to ship a pair of M80's to Australia. any rough guesstimates would do as i just need a sort o indication as to how much it would cost. If anyone from Axiom, like Alan, reads this then the closest major airport to me, would be Brisbane. If that makes any difference to shipping costs

Hi chunkYE
Your best bet would be to send Amie and email
amie@axiomaudio.com

But be prepared for a shocker as the $400 M22's
I'm getting cost $288 to ship to South Africa.
Still well worth it for me though

how long does it normally take to get a reply from Amie??
Posted By: alan Re: Shipping costs - 08/08/04 03:20 PM
Hi chunkYE,

Amie's response times are sprightly--within one or two days max--but since I just sent an email to an Australian, here's the dope: FedEx charges by zones, and then you have to pay an import duty (5%) plus a 10% VAT levy.

As an example, a single M22ti (not a pair), in Australian dollars, including FedEx shipping (a few days) would be $350 plus $17 duty and $37 VAT for a total of $404 Australian dollars. An Epic Grand Master system including the sub, would be $2,866 Australian dollars including FedEx, duty and VAT.

I just got this from Amie

---------------------------------------------------
Hi Brenton;

Thank you for your email. The price to ship the M80s to Australia via FedEx four-day air service is as follows:

1 pair M80s plus FedEx four-day air shipping: $2,028 Australian Dollars
Australia imposes a 5% Duty: $102 Australian Dollars
Australia also imposes a 10% VAT: $212

That brings the door-to-door total for a pair of M80s, delivered via FedEx four-day air service, to $2,342 Australian dollars.

Please don't hesistate to let me know if you have any other questions I can help with, or if you would like to place an order.

Kind regards,

Amie Colquhoun

Anyone know how much that would be with factory seconds? cause i'm on a bit of a budget. I had it all worked out that with the exchange rate the factory outlet M80's would cost $1350 Aussie dollars, and then about another $200 in tax on top of that. So, how much is shipping? And how much cheaper overall is the factory outlet ones compared to the regular ones?

Posted By: Ajax Re: Shipping costs - 08/10/04 12:26 PM
When buying from the factory outlet, take 10% off the price of the "regular" speakers. For the M80s, that's $110 US dollars. If you can convert that amount to Australian dollars and subtract it from Amie's quote, you'll know how much the Outlet M80s would cost you.

I don't know how much of the price Amie quoted is shipping, but she won't mind if you email her again and ask for a quote based on the Factory Outlet price of the M80s. She quoted you that price based on FedEx 4 day shipping. You might ask her if there is a less expensive method of shipping to Australia.

Sure is nice to have folks from other countries here. Hope it works out for you.

wow, that is a lot of money.. instead of 4-day air, see if they have like 14 day air for a few hundred less.. i would be willing to wait the xtra time if i could save a few hundred dollars.

man, if i ever had any thoughts of moving 'down under', i dont anymore.

C'mon, john, you already live in a different kind of "down under".

Yup,
Down under OKLAHOMA!

Hi,

We ship only by FedEx 4-day air, because our past experience with International shipping using other methods was unsatisfactory (by sea takes forever, the speakers get stolen or never arrive).

LOL, "...they get stolen or (get stolen)."

but you've already got your Axioms big john, you should come down and sell audio products for decent prices, cause, to get an Onkyo 701 here is $2000 Aus, which is about $1450 US. Biggest rip off. still probably goin' to buy one though. Just about to email Amie and find out about the factory second M80s....
Posted By: zathras Re: Shipping costs - 08/12/04 12:41 PM
No kidding, local dealers as such greedy jerks!
I was looking at an Onkyo 501, the cheapest I could get it here was R4500.
I've just seen it going on Ecost for $200 = R1500 at current exchange rate.

Dickweeds...

I wish I could find a reliable company willing to ship receivers to South Africa. I'd have no qualms about buying even without a guarantee, as the saving would be so huge.

Alan is right about surface shipping. I got fed up with my dvds arriving 2 months late or getting stolen or crushed and switched to airmail shipping even though its double.
