I'll be auditioning my M60s today, and have a question I know has been answered( but now I'm confused)
If I set the crossover on my H/K at 60 or 80, what should the crossover on the sub be set at, 40 or 120??
Just want my system to sound as good as possible for the audition.

If your using the crossover on your receiver there is no point in setting it on the sub also. Turn the crossover on the sub all the way up and set your crossover on your receiver to 80.
There is no point in having 2 components doing the same thing in the same signal path.

If 120 is your max, then 120 it is. What kind of sub are we talking here? I would also make sure you have the 60's set to small. Some go large but I prefer the small setting.
Max it to 120. Set your speakers to small and set the HK to 80 and your good to go.
That is what I thought, but I've seen 120 refered to as all the way down before on another post, and that is what confused me.

Maybe by "all the way down," the person meant to remove the sub's internal crossover or bypass its action, which is what you want to do to avoid "cascading crossovers". Since the A/V receiver's bass-management is already performing the crossover duties, you don't want to add a second crossover--holes and suckouts in the bass may result.
Some subs have a dedicated Bypass switch (a nice feature) but most sub crossover controls operate clockwise, with the upper frequency limit occurring with maximum rotation of the control or switch. That results in more or less the same effect.

Well its a day after the M60 audition, and I got to looking around on the back of my sub (didnt have a maual, out of box special) and it does have a bypass switch which was on anyway. So after all the worrying about setting the crossover dial up or down, (40 or 120) it didnt end up mattering.
