I just ordered samples but I'm still curious. Does any one have Axioms in black lacquer and how do they compare to other speakers you've seen with the same finish.
I have the Black oak. I can't help.

Nice theater!
Wow - Leggaire,

That's some HT, baby....

Gorgeous Room!
Just wanted to say thanks to all of your for the EXTREMELY nice comments on the HT. You guys are to kind.

The JBLs I have now have served me well for the last 5 yrs, but it's time to move on to better sounding speakers and this forum has been a great place for info on Axiom speakers. I've listened to the following speakers, Klipsch RF-7s, B&W 604S3, and Paradigm Studio 60s. The 60s were my favorite of the bunch, but I would really like to give the Axiom m80s a try before I buy anything. also if the m80 sound as good as everyone says they do I'd probably get them in a black lacquer finish.

Unfortunatley every seems to have some other finish. I asked for samples of the black lacquer and black oak, but since I haven't received them yet maybe some of you could give me your opinion of the black oak instead of the lacquer. How does it compare to other speakers you seen?

Thanks
Legairre

I think the black oak look great. My wife said the color scheme would be perfect with your awesome looking room so there you go!
Wow. I've seen some nice HT racks, but an inwall? That's nothing short of amazing!

I feel bad for the two channel Rotel amp. Looks like a pipsqueak next to the 200x5 one. NICE AMP! Must've been quite a pain o carry it in, though... *drools*
izub,
I think my wife would agree when I say the wife is ALWAYS right. I just received samples of the HG Black and man would these things look great in HG black. The only problem is I can't see myself paying an extra $350 for it.
Thasp,
Thanks for the compliment. Man you should have seen me trying to build the rack. The rack is built under the stairs and betrween two lolly columns. What a pain. Then again finishing the whole basement was a pain, but now my wife can't get me out of it.

The 200x5 is a real butt kicker. It weighs somewhere around 80lbs and my back sure knows it. The poor little 2 channel is a real whimp compared to the 200x5, but the 2 channel only powers my 2 center back speakers while the 200x5 handles the fronts center and side surrounds.
That is an awesome HT. Everytime someone posts pics like that I get all worked up that I didn't buy the house next door (would have had a 14' x 30' dedicated HT room).

Sidenote: my friend that has a furniture resale license showed me some nice leather theater seating - three in-line recliners with drink holders between them. Looked good from the pictures I saw. $900 a unit sound like a good deal?
$900 for all three? I am looking at getting a line up of 4 and was quoted about $1700. Does your friend ship to San Diego, or can he get the deal down here?
She picks them up in SantaFe Springs and lives in the 909. I'm sure that at that price differential it would be worth a short drive up here? Give me a little while and I'll see if I can get a picture of them for you.
It is indeed nice...

But jeez, you guys are sheltered, it's just a inwall shelf, nothing fancy... You guys really need to go poke around at http://www.avsforums.com/ look in the user galleries, there's some $50,000 theathers in there that'll blow your mind....

Cheers!

Daphoid,

You win the "foot in mouth" award!

Try the link again, but this time check out the menu at the top of the page. Click on "Theater" and then "Pictures" -- or just go here.

LOL! Hey Peter. I too wondered what all the fuss was about, although I thought the built in rack very beautiful. I'm running a pop-up blocker which also blocks scripts. So, when I clicked on Legairre's link, there WAS no menu at the top of the page.

A very nice job on the theater, Legairre, and welcome.
