My M22's are at home and I'm at work. Anyone been fired for paying too much attention to speakers. My wife called this afternoon and told me my speakers were at home. How can I possibly concentrate now:) I will be up late tonight.
Plan on getting the VP150 and QS8's when budget will allow.

Thanks to eveyone for their advice.

You are really not looking well at all. Do you have a 24 hr flu or something? Maybe its the 48 hr flu.
What ever it is I think you need a couple days off for the good of the other employees.

my speakers came in on a thursday night, and i ended up taking a half day on friday to get home and set them up. didnt have to play sick or nothing, just used a little vacation time.. my wife likes to say i 'wasted' vacation time, but i beg to differ...

You know, now that you mention it I am feeling a little sick. It must be the new strain of axiom flu. Once I get everything set up I will let you know what I think.

You might find that one or two days off are not enough. I got my M60ti speakers a couples of weeks ago and then I bought an EP500. Now, my main activity. except for work, is listening to music, reading posts, buying cd's and thinking of what I could buy next. This stuff is addictive. Be careful!!!

You think that's bad?

*go back to June 23rd, 2004*

Ring Ring!

Sean: Good afternoon, IMSS South, Sean speaking?
Caller: You suck!
Sean: Excuse me?
Caller: Your damn speakers are here.
Sean: *grins* sweet!
Caller: I hate you! There's so many boxes, and Mom says they're too big!
Sean: No they're not, what a spiffy day this has been!
Caller: No, they're to big, I'm going to break them..... and you SUCK! *click*
Sean: *snickers to self and hangs up phone*

That's right, in the middle of my work day I was informed that not just my M60's, but my VP150, QS8's, 175 ft of Axiom Speaker Wire, 25" Axiom Component Video cable, a 6' optical cable, 6' coaxial cable, 12' stereo audio cable, 35' subwoofer cable, and three Full Metal Brackets... were all waiting for me at the door.

I almost went nuts.... then there was my subwoofer, but that was a bitch because of customs + shipping, having to fax things, but when it showed up, oh baby....

My room STILL smells like Axiom, they have a certain smell about them, and I loves it so very much! Only thing I miss is the novelty feeling. I still love my speakers to death, but I'm used to them being here now, coming home and seeing speakers mounted on my ceiling was such an adrenaline rush.

EDIT: Did I mention I had to wait 2 weeks with my Denon AVR-3805 sitting on the floor to set it up, then another 1.5 weeks til Dad had time to help me run the wire? They were sitting right there, in boxes.... *drools*... I was in pure agony the day my subwoofer came and Dad was away on business, I called around frantically trying to find someone to help me move it downstairs...

In reply to:

Someone needs to bottle that vinyl, MDF and glue smell so I can spray it around my room once in awhile.

I really, honestly miss that smell.

I betcha a big, new EP500 would smell up my room for awhile.

Anyone ever wonder if there's, ummm, "something" in the glue that makes people crave buying more speakers? And how come I always got the munchies when I was listening to my speakers?

They are from Canada...
...and you get the munchies?

"The glue is for medicinal purposes, really..."

THEY'RE AT HOME AND I'M AT WORK! (M3s).
Man I already committed to a 4pm meeting so now I can't wiggle my out! I should've checked earlier!

Anyone knows if these speakers need "breaking in" ?

"Anyone knows if these speakers need "breaking in" ? "

That all depends on who you talk to. In my opinion NO, they dont need break in.

If you find they sound harsh and edgy play them for a few days and then you won't think they sound harsh and edgy any more. It works even if you aren't home when they are playing.

But it's not break-in.

You want to hear something even worse. I bought my receiver online and it will not be hear until Friday. The speakers are staring at me like eye candy. I saved money but am kicking myself now. Believe me, it's worse actually having the speakers and not being able to listlen to them. I think something is wrong with me. No one should be thinking about speakers this much...Ray

OK, how's this one? I have ALL of the components for my new gaming rig--except the motherboard. That's at the post office. I can't get it until Saturday, due to their ridiculous hours and forwarding policies (and the fact I don't trust my neighbors). I got all the rest of the stuff last Friday. Arrrrg! Recommendation-pay attention to the shipping policies on eBay BEFORE you bid...

I understand the "Not all the parts for the computer arrive at once" problem. I love assembling machines, it's my first expensive hobby.

Now, I'm trying the home theatre thing.

Hijack. What did you get K? I'm looking to do a major upgrade (almost build a 2nd PC). Athlon 64, pcie, etc. What mobo/proc/video card are you going with? I'm just afraid to start buying as what I want to get is going to cost a bit over $1000.00

Mine cost just over $1500. Bargain shopping is a good thing, my friend.

Here's the rundown (thanks for giving the opportunity to talk about my new baby!)

Athlon64 3200+ Socket 939(couldn't rationalize a 3500+)
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum (hard to find these days, but know as the best mobo on the NVidia Nforce3 Ultra platform)
2x Crucial Ballistix 512 MB DIMMS (2-2-2-6, natch)
BFG GeForce 6800 Ultra OC AGP (on sale, couldn't resist)
Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 200 GB SATA (zzz)
NEC Dual Layer x16 DVD+-R drive (silver)
Antec NeoPower 480 (not too sure about this one, but it's too late to return it now)
Silverstone Temjin TJ05-SX case (silver, side window-sigh, termal monitoring unit)
Zalman 7000B cooler

For $1000, I'd still be looking at the 3200+ or maybe the 3000+, but I'd get a cheaper case, a 6600 GT card in PCIExpress if you can stretch it. I'd still probably go with the pair of 512s. You can definitely get a good power supply for less, but be careful to read the reviews on those. An Antec Sonata case might be nice, and then you've got the PSU unless you're going to be running a high end video card. HD-get SATA.

Gee, can you tell I've been doing massive amounts of research?
Posted By: James_T Re: THEY'RE AT HOME AND I'M AT WORK! - 03/03/05 12:39 AM
Hmmm. I need a new proc/mobo/ram/video card (pci express here I come) and debating on just getting a 2nd case and taking what I have an putting it into that (HTPC perhaps?).
I've been eyeing the 3200 as well as the 3500.
I DO want PCIexpress though. That I am sure. I try to only upgrade every few years now and it's getting pricey. To get the minimum of what I would like will be at least 1k. 1 gig of ram is required for any MMORPG these days if you want to NOT drop to .5 FPS when you run into a town. WoW is better than SW:G was but I still here lots of HD accessing when I fly to a new place. I'm set on SATA. I have two 120g drives in my machine now (holds a lot por-- I mean family photos and mp3s).
I'm a bit up in the air on the mobo/video card as SLI was all the 'rage' (pun intended) back in Voodoo's day, but it flamed out fast so I don't know if it's here to stay this time or not.

ARS is working on a new recommended guide so I might hold out for that.

Did you buy all from one place or varios places? NewEgg? ZipZoomfly? Froogle?

Man, I wish I could monitor termals!
Posted By: Ken.C Re: THEY'RE AT HOME AND I'M AT WORK! - 03/03/05 06:07 AM
Newegg for the DVD, ZipZoomFly for the critical bits except the mobo and memory, memory direct from Crucial (no tax is cheaper than free shipping), case from eastluna.com (good price, seem like good folks), mobo from eBay.

oops.

Put it together tonight, no runnie. WAAAAAAAH!
Posted By: Ken.C Re: THEY'RE AT HOME AND I'M AT WORK! - 03/03/05 07:06 AM
Welp, fixed that problem... it helps when all the power pins actually connect with the motherboard. Cheapass $110 power supply...

Nice parts Ken.
What happened to the Mac?
Posted By: Ken.C Re: THEY'RE AT HOME AND I'M AT WORK! - 03/03/05 03:24 PM
It's under the other desk--that one had problems with the extender power cable for the Radeon 9800. Power and me aren't getting along this week.

I've got games for both on order from Amazon, to make sure I didn't waste too much money on that overpriced 9800 Mac Edition.
Posted By: LonKelley Re: THEY'RE AT HOME AND I'M AT WORK! - 03/03/05 05:12 PM
I like www.tigerdirect.com for some parts (usually cases/power) and www.svc.com for cooling and cables (least expensive round cables ever!). Otherwise, I'm all about Newegg and ZipZoomFly, too.

Ok, I either need to stop reading this thread, or return my Axioms so I can build another computer (twitch, twitch).
