I bought M60ti speakers to listen to music on the main floor of my house a couple of weeks ago. The fuses blew out on my 20 years old Rotel receiver the first night I connected my M60 to it. The same night I bought a Denon DRA-685 stereo receiver. Now my Rotel is in my bedroom. Eventualy I will be looking for good speakers for the system in my bedroom. Last week, I bought an EP500. I feel I'm not getting all I can out of my speakers. I would like to do something about room modes. There's no television on this floor, so this system is exclusively for music. My question is: should I change my receiver to get a 3805 or buy an Outlaw ICBM or an equalizer? Any suggestions?

If this is for a 2.1 music only system I see no reason to spend the extra $ on the 3805.Your receiver is rated at 100 watts per channel and the 3805 is at 120 per.Theres not enough difference in their ratings to warrnant the change.

I use the Outlaw Icbm in my 2.1 system with the M80s and a Hus STF-3.I think it's the best piece of equipment I have used in this type of application.I would have to put my vote on the Icbm.Also with Icbm in the chain you would take the load off your receiver having to play the power hungry bass notes.The Icbm can be had for $199 as B stock.

I have read the Icbm owner's manual but do not quite understand what it can do except let me set my M60 speakers so they do not play full range. I guess I should read the manual again. Also, I do not have a subwoofer line-out on my receiver so how would I connect it to the Icbm?

You have preout and main in on your receiver.You simply take out the jumpers and install the Icbm in between the preamp section of your receiver and the main in using 2 pair of interconnects.The Icbm has the sub out built into it.It will filter out anything at the selected crossover point and send the lower signals to the sub.Anything above the crossover point will go to the amp section of the receiver and then out to your M60s.
