I may have m22tis depending on how an auction goes much sooner than anticipated(perhaps sooner than the actual equipment), so I'd like to be prepared. Right now stuff is still somewhat up in the air since my receiver still hasn't come, I haven't any cables, a place to put everything, a subwoofer(still waiting for a good deal/auction to pop up on a nice Axiom or HSU). Stuff is still up in the air, so might as well tackle the issue of where the speakers will rest first.

The Axiom stands looked very nice. When I noticed the price.. no way. Anyone who remembers their jobs as a teenager will know why the price for those stands seems too high to me.

To give an idea of my standards, the stand I use for a computer right now is, two metal sheets with holes on them made to attach to four legs with little indents that fit into the holes. To not scratch the floor, I have those things that go onto the end of a bike kickstand on all four bent ends of the legs that touch the floor.. picked it up in a tenement apartment when the people moved out. Point being - if it'll hold them up without degrading the sound with tweeters somewhere around ear level while say, about four feet above the ground, I'd like to see them. If I can't get the Axioms connected to the stands.. hell, if the stands are cheap enough I wouldn't mind duct taping them, maybe with a hole cut out for the port. I prefer function, and saving my very slowly accumulated money over form anyday when it comes to electronics, speakers, etc.

TH, you might try my specially-engineered variable height stands that I used when I first got my M22s, e.g. stacks of old magazines from 16" to 24" high. I found that 18" was about the best and that Stereo Review gave better sound than either Time or Playboy.

I haven't yet bought stands for my fairly recently acquired M22's. For now I'm using a modified verion of JohnK's original stands. That is, M22 speaker boxes with a magazine or two placed on top to improve the support for the speakers and allow for minor height adjustements.

You may want to check in with Bridgeman and ask about the acoustical properties of his soup can stands for his QS8s. Maybe with a good report from John, you could look into some big-azz cans from Sam's Club or Costco to hold your larger M22s.

I have 5-gallon mayonnaise jars under my M60s, based upon my inspiration from John.

I still just use good old MDF when I need to make a stand. Cost next to nothing but the time it took to build!

I have a pair of stands ordered from Axiom a couple of years ago which I am not using for my M-22tis. They look very similar to the FMS stands, but have a flat, wedge-shaped base for the speaker and brushed silver poles. They are in perfect shape, and have spike and rubber feet.

I would be willing to sell them to you for a good price if you are interested.

Axiom's stands are crappy. There is no sense using those stands with M22s for a top heavy arrangement.

I agree they are not optimal, but the poles are hollow so I filled them with BBs and weighted down the bottom. No problems!

I never tried that. I'm sure I'm just exaggerating but I simply put them away after trying them out for all of 10 minutes. This was a year and a half ago; perhaps it was a discontinued model.

There has been a re-working of the stands for the bookshelves...

It happened in the last year or so...

From what I remember, the new stands far exceed the original offering...

Please, anyone who knows more, please chime in...

Simply put, the new stands are better engineered.
