I'm an old beginner. I'm pretty convinced that if I buy speakers, they will be the 60's, but am afraid to pull the trigger. I would listen mostly to vocalists, jazz, and swing.(Brian Setzer Orch, etc.) with a dose of good old 50's - 70's rock. I have a denon 3802, and my main speakers are Cerwin Vegas, don't know the model, about 12 -15 years old, probaly about 500-700 a pair when I got them, have a base, mid range and tweeter. I realize the return policy is excellent, but will I notice adifference? I have faith in you people already, (I read a thread where someone talked about never playing music in 5.1, but use the neo 6.1. Tried it , and it did sound better. Anyway, that's my question. Thanks, Guy

You'll hear a difference. You won't like the bass for a bit, most likely, because it won't be what you're used to. But soon you will come to appreciate the overall sound, and the texture and detail of the bass. Doesn't mean you shouldn't get a sub at some point, though...

I have a Klipsch reference sub 10". I'm not big on base.

The 60's produce tight/accurate bass, they always amaze me.

M60s are very good at base, and I still managed to buy a Sub anaway, REL Q150E. I played a lot with my stereo setup today, and after 4 hours, I feel like I did not achieve much. One thing is for sure: a good sub really adds a new dimension to the stereo listening experience with already good-base speakers like M60s, if setup properly. I realized that this setup (sub) requires a lot of work, time and patience. Still working....

I tell ya, with my Denon 2805 on Direct mode, listening to certain cd's just blows me away. There are times I think I'm hearing low bass from my sub, when in fact it is coming from my 60's. Calibration and positioning is important and can make all the difference in the world.

Like Randy said on my Denon 3805 while playing in direcr mode I think at times that the sub is on. I calibrated mine and just placed them on the floor. They sounded great to me so I did not move them around. I just can't wait til next year when I get them in my HT.

You will certainly hear a difference. Speakers are going to make more impact on the sound of your system than any other (assuming resonable gear).

60's are very accurate sounding speakers which apparently is not for everyone. But accurate really is what we should all be striving for because this is what is intended with sound reproduction. We are trying to get as close to the original sound as possible.

We love our Axioms and there is a good chance that you will too. You just have to play with placement and receiver setup to ensure that you are letting the 60's potential really shine.

Get the system calibrated and you will love the 60s. Great neutral reproduction.
