Hey:

Running M22t, Vp150 and a Mirage S12. Love the setup, however I am wonderig if my reciever volume is too high for me to get the sound. Using a Denon AVR 2106, and my DB=-23. Is that loud? Or resonable?

TIA

Use your RatShack meter and check it out.

First of all have you calibrated your system?

The volume level will vary depending on the music/dvd source. With my Denon 2805 I listen to music anywhere from about -35dB's to -10dB's and occasionally crank it up to 0dB and beyond when my wife and kids go somewhere. Movies also vary, but I would say on average I am listening around -20 to -15 dB's.

The settings on the volume control can vary for a number of factors. I agree with Wid, buy or borrow a SPL meter and make a few measurements. You may be surprised by the results.

-10db for movies, and maybe -0db for music and those are pretty loud.

Again, one can't just take a receiver setting and make that comment. Loud depends on the size of the room, how it is "appointed," how far from the speakers you sit/ listen, how accurate the receiver is calibrated, internal settings, input voltages from sources, etc.

You really need a sound meter to make sense of the situation.
