Hello. I bought thiel cs3.6es recently. The wire plugs are on the bottom. I forgot to put the spikes on so I sort of crushed my plugs and had to use new cable, so I spliced some. Then I forgot that my HK receiver was useless with bare wire, so I bought some from radioshack with terminated ends, they are terminated with a metal stick kind of like a paper clip.

The shortest they have in this wire is 24 feet and the lowest guage is 16. Will 16 guage 24 feet wire work for the Thiel CS3.6 speakers well, they are nominal 4 ohms but swoop lower sometimes and will be used with an adcom gfa-555 amp when it comes. I want to know if I can buy a matching one of this cable or if I should spend more money and buy the old 12 guage daytons that are 9 feet online again.

Looks like 24ft is the max for 16 AWG with a 4ohm load.
I would just reterminate your cables. Radio shack sells bannana plugs, and spades, and even pin connectors (those paperclip things) of couse the 16 gauge stuff will work but shorter is always better. Why doesnt your HK accept bare wire? nearly all speaker connectors accept bare wire, its the fancy connectors that many dont accept.
The H/K posts are not 5 way binding posts. While you can wrap the wire around the bolt portion of the post, it's not the best way to connect things.

I'd just get some screw on banana plugs for the thicker wire for the H/K side of things.

Huh?? Both of my HK's have the holes in the spades that you can thread bare wire through. (7200 / 7300) Are the other models different?
Yes. With a 4 digit number, you get the good binding posts. 3 digit numbers need not apply.
This thing about HKs and bare wire has come up before and it's puzzling. Unscrew the terminal, stick the bare end of the wire into the slot and re-tighten the terminal?
What slot.
The opening when the terminal is partially unscrewed. There've been complaints about how hard it was with the tight quarters to use thick bare wire(suggested trimming the ends)with the HKs(and other receivers), but it works.
Yeah, but bananas work a whole lot better.

Well that's just plain STUPID!

.......I use banana plugs anyway. Too much of a bitch messing with wires on the back side of this thing. It has more in's and out's than the Mustang Ranch.
