I've been away, so I didn't keep up much with news from CES last week. Any updates on cablecard in HTPC, so that they can record HD through the cable box? I want to go HTPC, but I mostly watch HD so if I can't record in HD there isn't much of a point. From what I understand, HD can only be recorded OTA with HTPC currently.

Ati announced a pc tuner card that will work with a cablecard. The catch is that it will require a fully built and certified system - it's functionality will be tied to the motherboard. I don't think these will be available for a while though.

Not just the motherboard--they'll only be available from the big names--HP, Dell, etc.

Thanks. I found some more info on it as well. Sounds like we should start seeing them when Vista ships to consumers in a couple of weeks. I'd prefer to build my own, but if I had to buy from Dell or someone to get it I'd consider it, depending on the price and what the case would look like sitting with the rest of my equipment.
