Need some expertise. I have a spare 17" Sony LCD computer monitor and it is just sitting there. I just sat it underneath my plasma where all my components are just for the heck of it. The thing is, it looks really cool down there (for some unknown reason) but has no functional value. Is there any type of adapter so that I can hook it up to my receiver? Forgive my stupidity but I dont even know what you call these types of plugs that it has but the only way I can see it plugging into my receiver is if there is an adapter that will basically turn it into a component cable. Is that right? Thanks for all the help folks.

I'm guessing the monitor has a DVI cable. If your receiver has HDMI inputs, then this will work:

If it only has component inputs, then you'll have to get these:

The first link is a DVI gender changer, necessary to convert the male end of the monitor's cable to a female end. The second link is the DVI to component adapter.

It may also have an s-video connection. That would make life easy.

Your monitor has DVI-D and HD15 (standard analog monitor connection) inputs, so you'll need my first link to go to HDMI or my second two links to go to component.
Thanks buko. Will do and let you know how it turns out.
