I have been reading about different surround speaker designs. I am not sure what to classify my QS8's as. They don't seem to fit cleanly into a category.

They are neither Dipole or Bipole. If you read the description, they are Quadpolar designed. Meaning they have 4 drivers (2 woofers, 2 tweeters) firing in phase.

Quadpolar.

They are quadpolar (drivers firing in 4 different directions) by design, but bipolar (driver firing in two different directions) in philosophy. Both bipolar and quadpolars have the drivers wired in phase. Dipoles have drivers firing in two different directions, like bipoles, but the driverws are wired out of phase to make the sound seem more diffused.

Thanks, I did actually look at the description but somehow missed this. And it's nice to know that they operate like a bipolar speaker in theory. Now when I am reading I can relate to a particular type.
