Hello i just bought the m60 with the ep500 and not sure where to start the tuning of the speakers. Where should I start with the sub? (Flat, half or Full) and the crossover point? Also I have the onkyo Tx-ds777 set to small not sure what the crossover points are tho. Please help.

Welcome, and congrats on your new setup. My first setup included 60's and an ep500.

How big is your room? Normally, for larger rooms you want to use "flat", however, some people have used half or full to adjust freq response above 33hz. I would say start with "flat" for now, you can always adjust it once you get used to the sub.

Location is also very important, and everyone knows I've moved my sub around a lot.

On the sub turn the crossover knob to "bypass". On the receiver you normally want to use 80hz crossover on each speaker with a speaker setting of "small" for them all. If your receiver allows for different crossover settings for each speaker, I would try 60hz for the m60's as that is better for music.

Also, turn the volume on the sub (gain) to about 7o'clock for starters. Then when you calibrate all your speakers using the receiver test tones or other cd test tones you will need to adjust the sub levels on the receiver to match the other speakers, normally 75dB. You might need to buy a Radio Shack SPL meter to help with calibration.

Or, your receiver may have "auto setup" and a microphone to assist with setup...

I am also In the process of gathering up my equiptment .. Got my new VP 150 last week .. I am curently waiting on the arrival of a Emotiva LPA1.. I am hoping to order and go pick up M60's next week...My pioneer recieve has the set up programme but was wondering what benifits i would get from getting a SPL meter.. Is ther a guide on here somewhere about how to use it .... I know nothing about frequencey responce or any of that other technical stuff.. I have always "tuned" by ear.. It would be nice to find out how to use the meter before buying one..
