I'm using an OPPO 970 DVD / CD player in my garage with an old Sansui AU-717 integrated amp. There are some settings in the OPPO that I'm not sure are right or even if they matter with this setup.

Output can be set for left right; stereo; 5.1 and virtual surround. The left and right setting decodes those channels only. The stereo takes all channels on a disc and converts everything to the left and right channels. I have it set to stereo.

The digital output can be PCM or Raw and I have it set to raw.

Does any of this really matter using it with the Sansui amp and only for audio? Any help or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm guessing that the Sansui doesn't have any digital inputs. If so, the PCM/Raw thing shouldn't matter at all.

Based on your description, I think you've got it right.

No, the Sansui is strickly analog so I didn't figure the digital output mattered. Thanks, always good to get another opinion from the boards. \:\)
