Hi Guys

Would you please advise on the following. I have a HI-FI,(Yamaha:Piano Craft-E810) Micro Component System which runs on it’s original manufacture’s speakers.

My problem with said machine is that the system plays well, but as soon as I try to raise the volume (not even reaching half mark of the volume dial), it cuts and automatically switches off. Does anyone have any clue as to what could be the problem?

I would very much appreciate your help

Check the speaker wires to make sure there's not a short.

Also, how high a volume knob is turned up is completely arbitrary to the capability of the system's output, and low-end systems are notorious for reaching full-volume with a quarter turn so the system seems really powerful.

Welcome, by the way!

It sounds to me like you are simply putting the system into protect mode as Mark has said, just because you have room left to move the dial does not mean anything. The amp section is most likely just getting to hot or is being asked to deliver more power than it is capable of to the speakers(you are turning the system up to volume levels it was not designed for).
