Hi!

My EP600 Subwoofer has suddenly stopped working. When I turn it on, the red light at the back turns on, but does not turn green. And of course the LFE signals are not being processed. I have owned this EP600 for about 3 years. Any suggestions?

Call Axiom.

Already emailed Axiom. Waiting for response. Thanks.

You would be better calling them, the techs Alan, Brent, JC, etc. man the phones into the evening. Email will be slower.

Ritchie,

Just to make sure that you don't have anything plugged into the trigger jack. If you have a cable plugged into the trigger jack and it is not giving voltage the light will be red and the sub won't work. Once 12v or there abouts is applied to the trigger cable then light will go green and sub will work.

This only applies if you have a cable plugged into the trigger jack. If you don't then red probably indicates a problem.

I spoke with Axiom tech support. They recommended changing the fuse. I bought new fuses from Radio Shack. No joy! The EP600 is still dead.

rvrrat: I unplugged the trigger cable, in case that was an issue. But the subwoofer is still dead. :-(

I bought the EP600 four years ago. So it is still under warranty. I will talk to tech support again tomorrow.

let us know what you find out.

Sounds like you need a new amp?

Hi Richie,

Does your EP600 amp have a switch with "Flat" and other bass-boost settings (Half, Full) as well settings called "Load" and "Remote?."

If so, check it and make sure the switch is NOT at the Load or "Remote" settings. The subwoofer will not work if the switch is at "Load". Make sure the switch is at Flat and hasn't been accidentally moved to a different setting.

Regards,

good point Alan, Flat (large rooms), full, or half are the active options.

Hi Alan!

Thanks for the suggestions. My EP600v2 does have the switch with the Load/Flat/etc. settings. I checked to make sure all settings were correct. The EP600 is still dead. Nothing happens when I turn it on - no sound or light.

I got a quick response from JC regarding my problem. Looks like I will have to send back the EP600 to Axiom, and get a replacement under warranty. I am happy! I will be even happier when I get the replacement EP600! :-)

they are going to make you send the entire sub back, not just the amp?
Posted By: terzaghi Re: EP600 Subwoofer problem - 02/21/10 02:59 AM
I'm surprised they aren't just sending an amp...
Posted By: Richie Re: EP600 Subwoofer problem - 02/21/10 03:22 AM
Hmmm...I guess they might just send me a new amp. I hadn't thought of that. Well, I will find out on Monday exactly what is going to happen.

normally, they will send you a new amp in a small crate box, that way you can return your old amp to them.

Unless, of course, the new amp designs necessitate a new sub box. That's how mine was.

FedEx delivered the new amp today. Took a few minutes to figure out that I had to unscrew the crate lid and take the amp out. Taking out the old amp and installing the new one was easy. The only thing that took time was dealing with all the screws!

The new amp works perfectly. The EP600 is once again filling my room with LFEs. I had no idea I was addicted to LFEs! :-)

Thanks to all who responded to my posting. And thanks to Axiom for outstanding warranty service!

I'm glad you're up and running again. Yeah, the number of screws really is a test of patience.

Use a drill with a phillips head bit. It saves a bunch of time! \:\)

High risk of stripping out the screw holes, I would think.

Ha ha, Ken said "stripping" and "screw holes."

Ken is such a bad influence on us.

I would resemble that remark, except I don't.

I'm sweet and innocent. The only bad influence I have is in making people post one liners.
