I like the idea of the m60 in-cabinet design. I might be unusual, but I have spare space behind my "tv-wall" and wouldn't hesitate to flush mount an in-cabinet design through the wall and have the back side sticking its butt into the other room.

(WAF, and a narrowish viewing room, keep me from being able to put actual floor standing units on each side of the TV.)

But what I'd really like to do is, instead of a m60, put an in-cabinet m22 in..

Presently, I have w22s... they are nice, but I'm looking for a little more and I think the full enclosure that an in-cabinet would allow for would be ideal for me.

I imagine the fact the m22's are rear ported is what's keeping them out of the in-cabinet line up... but does anyone think they will at some point be offered?

Haven't heard anything about an M22 in-cabinet but it would certainly seem to be an obvious addition to the M60/80 in cabs knowing how popular the M22's are. I don't think the rear port has anything to do with it, Axiom would work around it like they did with the towers, just redesign the port(s) to the front. Don't forget, the regular M60/80's are both front AND rear ported, for the in cabs they redesigned them with a much larger front port only.

I didn't realize that the 60/80's were rear ported - it would appear that technically speaking, working the 22 design into that form factor wouldn't require too much additional experimentation... Thanks for the information.

How about these? InWall M22

I installed the M2 in-walls for a friend and they are surprisingly good. I say that, not being a fan of in-wall speakers in general.

Ironically, the inwall m22's have quite a bit more internal cabinet volume - and I've heard that they do sound better, probabaly as a result of this volume.

It is ironic, because you'd think that the w22's that I have, with ability to be in wall AND on wall would have taken more advantage of this space - but the portion that goes in the wall is really pretty small (maybe it's just for the electronics?)

It's really too bad that it gives you the standing wave benefit of being removed from wall surface, but than takes a big hit(for no apparent reason) with a cabinet volume that is quite a bit less than the in-walls.

Obviously, neither of the in/on wall versions come close to the volume of the real bookshelf. Trying to imaging what more the m22 inwall would give me, I calculated out all the volumes awhile back).

My goal in hoping for an in-cabinet design is to recreate most of the M22 bookshelve's acclaim in my room.

AFAIK, it's for more than the electronics, but I think it's small so people don't have to hack huuuge holes in the wall. This post is just a guess; I have no direct experience with the in/ons. I have a pair of plain ons, which are basically the in/ons but without the box on the back.

I installed the M2 In-Wall speakers for myself and am quite happy. They fill the area quite nicely. They would benefit from a small sub, but I may enjoy more bass than most.

They turned out great, even better with the matching wall color paint job.

Its not just you. The midrange on the M2 is stunning, but they do not reach that low. Its a great speaker for the money though.
