Let´s suppose that after running Audissey on my Denon receiver I got.
L - 1.0
C - 1.0
R -1.0
SL -1.0
SR - 1.0
Sub - 1.0
If I change all the parameters to let´s say + 10.0 will my speakers continue to be correctly calibrated or not? I am really sorry for this noobie question. Hope someone can clarify this to me. Thanks
I would strongly recommend against bumping up the dB more than, say +5, because you run the risk of overdriving. I think.
I believe it would remain correctly calibrated, though. My Dolby and DTS are calibrated to different levels (for some reason), but the differences between the numbers are the same.
There are two things the auto calibration does. One is to make sure all the speakers play at the same level. The second is to make -0 dB on the volume control be "reference". While changing all the trims the same amount will not have an effect on the first, it will change the second.
If you're not worried about what -0 dB actually means, then you can play with all the trim controls equally without throwing off the speaker-to-speaker calibration. But as Ken said, you don't want to push them too far positive.
Thanks for the answer! I better change it back then.
Thanks ken! Your help is greatly appreciated! Sorry for the dumb question though.
maybe if the question had been dumb, then the answers would have been the same.
so, no worry.
as my good friend used to say when i was a teen: "What! me worry!";
the older guys around here will recognize those famous words.
remember the years when "Mad" was so good that their humor would make me bend in 2 laughing and give me stomach aches?

I'll never forget the 8 is enough spoof :'Don't worry Dad, I took my jelly beans!"
Ichi,
not a dumb question at all. If you or someone else doesn't ask, how am I going to learn?
The little cartoons in the margins were always my favorite.
