To keep this simple is there any reason I can't hook up two sources to the EP-125 sub?

I.e., one standard HT receiver using the "sub out" line, hooked via RCA cable to the sub, and a seperate system hooked up via the speaker wire passthrough option?

I would only use one system at a time.

No problem as long as only one is used at a time. If no signal is flowing through it, it's as if the second one doesn't exist.
Theoretically if it started receiving two signals at once, what might happen?

I'd assume that unless there was some internal circuitry to prevent it(unlikely)both signals would be fed into the sub amp, and add up to one louder jumbled signal. Nothing like burning out the amp or the subwoofer voice coil should happen.
it would blow up and turn into a weapon of mass destruction.

you don't want cokehead bush on your behind, woukd you?
I don't think simultanously hooking up the line-level and speaker-level inputs of a sub is such a good idea, even if you don't turn on the two sources at the same time.
Ha ha.. But plezzzz, don't bring politics on to this site.. Big amps, speakers, movies, even beer.. But no politics.. It will just destroy an otherwise very nice place to visit..
Thanks..
I know there's some reasoning behind this. Is there a chance you might create a feedback loop or something?
I take it there's not a switch on the Axiom subs to choose between line level and speaker level. If there was, I wouldn't see a problem at all.
The potential problem is the fact that the output impedance of ANY amps (including preamps) are very low. For example, even if the power amp connected to the speaker-level terminals is turned off, the other preamp feeding the line-level input of the sub may "see" the power amp as a very heavy (low-impedance) load for them, potentially leading to distortions and other problems.
Hi,

Sushi is absolutely correct. In the new manuals for the subwoofers, we warn against simultaneous hookup of both speaker-level and low-level inputs for exactly this reason. Thanks sushi.
