Hi guyz . Just purchased the VP160 center channel after using the Axiom wizard . I also added two Q8,s to my theatre
One thing I did notice when I hit the reviews button is that most of the reviews are for the VP150 .
I understand the 160 is a newer product .
I was using an in ceiling speaker as a center channel before the purchase so all I can say is "wow" what a vast improvement in sound stage and yes this thing is a monster .
Using a small yamaha 90 watt/7 channel receiver and now I have to start saving to replace my vintage towers .
Do you have any advice on the VP160 I can use in a room thats approx 20 X 20 ? good set up charecteristics or sound stage improvements ? Its mounted to the factory 16 inch stand .
I need to find a quality amp to drive the front three and will be doing web reviews on this next .

Cruncher, welcome. Great to hear how you're enjoying your new VP160. As far as setup tips, there's really not too much that can be said. If you're using the Axiom stand, it's set up directly below the screen, and there's not really room for variance.

What are your main speakers? The VP160 and QS8s don't have any unusual requirements as to amplification, nor do the other Axioms. For a new receiver I'd suggest that you consider the Onkyo and Denon units which fit your budget.
My towers are old pioneers that still sound very good . They were well broken in throughout the 25 years I have owned them . Two eight inch woofers and two tweeters per speaker...no midrange .
I picked up the Yammy receiver because it was capable of upconverting hdmi 1.4 signals . This was something I needed for 3D.
I highly recommend this receiver for small to medium rooms while watching home theatre but not for high music levels .
.
I admit the Yammy 5063 sounds better in some surround modes than my older Onkyo THX receiver but doesnt provide the power I am familair with .
I can see an Onkyo TX-NR1009 in the near future or possibly a pair of those new Axiom LFR1100,s

I should comment that the Vp160 is set up in front of the projector screen and placed as close to the wall as I could get it . With front ports on the Vp160 , I didnt think there was a need for placing it away from the wall like some other center channel manufacturers suggest , although I did give it a try and didnt notice any changes . It sounded awesome in both placements.
Its only been a few days since I have had the VP160 and I am very impressed . Just looking for tweaks LOL !!! laugh
My 80's Pioneer CS60's still sound awesome.

I cant say my pioneers look that sweet but will admit they still perform well
OK last night i broke down and grabbed a set of M60 V 3 directly from Axiom .With my present receiver @ 90 watts per channel and room size ( 20X20 ) , i can only hope the 60,s will shine
I was gonna purchase a set of M80 V2 at this link .

I had him at $550 but the shipping woulda been about 300 bucks delivered to my location so if any of you want a sweet looking pair of Boston Cherrie M80,s , use that link and I hope you live closer than I do . The M 80,s he is sellig have the spikes and 5 way connecters . He is not selling with the original factory boxes but if you can grab them for 550 and pick up !! thats a good deal .Judging by the pictures , the speakers are a 9 .
He is going to e mail me and let me know what Axiom charges for original speaker boxes . Guys .... dont chuck your speaker boxes out . Put them in the attic until you need em !!!

your m60's should rock that room with that receiver...
