Quality set of RCA cables - 08/04/12 07:02 PM

As the subject line says, i am looking for a nice quality set of rca cables. Somewhere between monoprice and Esoteric. The have to be suple (flexible), well sheilded and high quality connectors. I dont want anything i have to burn in sleep .
I will be using these to connect my phono preamp into my reciever.Somewhere in the $60 to $70 range would be tolerable. What are you using ???

I'm happy with the Blue Jeans Cable cables I've bought, but I don't have them making any sharp bends. They're not super-stiff, but they might not be your ideal for flexibility. I'm very happy with the RCA connectors, though.

I probably have about a lot of them.. smile i have found them to be a good value.. Also, they are Right in your price range. Also, the RCA ends are locking RCA's, so they are secure once they are in the system.

Richard, there's no need to throw money out lavishly to get a "quality" coaxial cable. Beware of "high end" cable nonsense designed to attract the uninformed or gullible. The high quality/low price cables I've used for several years are these , which meet all the requirements that you mention.

Edit: of course, If I'd been aware of the "Audiophile Pricetags" I certainly would have gone with them to make my cables true "high end"!

Thanks john, i am a practical kind of guy in such matters. But i cant help think there is something better than 9.99 walmart rca cables without buying into so called golden ear bs about hearing the difference between one cable over another. i have monoprice cables running to my subs but they are just too stiff for my 2 channel cabinet. I am more about signal rejection from the mess of wires behind a typical stereo. The audio pricetags have gone out of business for some reason, shame really.

ps this is for a phono stage which i feel is highly sensitive to outside interference. Though given my hearing i wonder if i could hear any difference grin

It might be heresy to mention my cables - a 5 minute walk to my local 'Dollar Store' where they sell fat 'Heavy Duty' RCA Cables for about 6 bucks max.

Gold(?) plated, tight fitting, noise free, flexible & sound just fine. I use them in both my HT & Audio Systems. They aren't the prettiest but they are not visible as I run them through automotive wire looms to try to keep the clutter to a minimum.

Great bang for the buck...

Get the Belden 1505f that comes with Taversoe RCA connectors. Add the techflex option.

Blue Jeans cable offer some of the best quality cables regardless of price. The Taversoe RCA connectors they use are awesome.

I don't want to sound rude but I fail to see how pure cotton and Douglas Fir cardboard will make electric signals transfer better.

I will agree that aesthetics are nice in open systems where everything is seen and that it can be important to make you feel good about your system. Cheap Radioshack red and white RCA cables can look very undesirable and I will pay a bit more to get a better look and physical quality

However that being said, I personally, would not buy from this company as their marketing has gone to great lengths to try and trick me into thinking that their cables sound sooo much better that I will be astounded or 'need a diaper' as they so elegantly mention. My own practicality is offended by such marketing tactics and I do my best to not support such companies.

Just expressing my opinion. In the end, you should do what is in your own means to make you happy, long term, about any decision. My happiness is irrelevant to your system.

I know that I'm probably about the only Monster lover around here, but so far, my best odd and end stuff has been made by Monster.

Re: Quality set of RCA cables - 08/08/12 10:47 PM

Just a quick update - i ordered a pair of cables from BlueJeans on sunday, they dropped me an email monday saying they had been shipped. they got here tuesday at 2:30pm from memphis. Now thats service.

As for the cables , they seem to be of good quality. I tested the resistance and they tested quite good. All in all quite happy. Next set i will try from the place alex suggested. One thing i do like about the ones i got from monoprice was the ability to tighten the cable once pushed onto the rca connector.

Which one did you get the LC-1 or the 1505f?

Re: Quality set of RCA cables - 08/09/12 08:49 AM

Btw if you like locking interconnects try the locking banana plugs from Blue Jeans cable for your speakers. Very nice stuff. Well executed design.

Re: Quality set of RCA cables - 08/09/12 10:34 AM

I went with the LC-1 since i did not want any more influence than necessary from the cable on my cartridge.
