putiing ep600 amp in ep500 - 06/16/21 01:19 AM
Hi, I have a few questions about ep500/600.
I have owned an EP500 V2 since 2007. the first amp failed under warranty after 4 years. the second amp started acting up after it was 7 years old ( popping and volume changes ). The second amp quit in its 10th year. I was able to pickup a used EP600 V3 cheaper than purchasing a replacement amp from Axiom.
1. How well would the EP600 V3amp work in the EP500 V2 ? the EP600 just overpowers the room visually although it sounds very good. the physical dimensions of the amp plate are similar, although it would need to be rotated. I am concerned that the dsp is set to match the volume of the cabinet.
2. Is there a manual available to download for the EP600 v3 ? V3 is unique in that it doesnt have an rca input although I was provided with a 1/4 " to rca which goes in the combo XLR/1/4" jack.
3. Is there any information available about repairing the EP500 amp myself ? I do have some experience and equipment in this area. Looking for things like schematics and typical failures.
4. Is there a demand for the driver out of the EP500/EP600 ? I see they are listed the same on the website. I could be willing to sell one of the sub drivers to try to recoup some of my expenses.
I still love my axioms after all these years and understand electronics eventually fail. the detail crispness of my M22 and the definition of the bass from the EP500/600 is great. I was surprised to read online comments that dont hold them in as such a high regard as when I was looking to purchase. I think I will keep browsing used offerings and maybe bid on some tower speakers.
