Program H/K AVR525 using RS232 port?

My Harman/Kardon AVR525 has an RS232 serial port, which ostensibly can be used to control the receiver. The problem is that this functionality is undocumented: The user guide says to see the web site, but I can find no docs there either.

I have inquired of Harman/Kardon, so far without response.

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge in this area?

Never mind. H/K sent me the documentation.

FWIW, the concept is simple: To control the receiver via the RS232 port, you send it a series of codes corresponding to key-clicks on the remote.

Each code is four bytes long, which you specify in hex.

There is no reply from the receiver. It just does what it would do if the remote key were clicked.

If you got it in email form, could you email it to me? I'm kind of curious.

I'd really like a copy as well, if you can email it. I should be able to use those hex codes to program my remote using the JP1 cable.

What are you trying to control with your JP1 remote? I've got a 525 and a rat shack 15-1994 JP1 and control most everything I need.

All you need to do is learn a button from the HK remote to the 525 then dump it in the JP1 program (forgot what it is called) to get the hex for the button.

My goal is to control every feature I use on all my remotes with my One for All 8910 remote. Then I'll hopefully program it so that one push of a device button sets up everything properly for using that device.

So, far all is going well, I'm just getting to dealing with the HK tonight.

I'll be doing some of that tonight. Am I correct in assuming that I just learn every button I want from the HK remote and then just keep dumping them into IR? Once they are all in there I then somehow assign them to a device code...right?
