Nope.
DVD-A has some type of encryption/technology that does not allow for that. I have been looking all over for a way to back-up my DVD-A's.
Also...you would need a DVD drive, not a CD drive to read the disc.
I agree with what curtis said-
though most DVD-As do have a DTS track (which is still rather high quality) which you *could* do that to.
I've never done it myself.
can anyone really hear the difference between DVD-A and DTS?

Yes...it is not difficult to hear the improvement.
I'll have to disregard that magazine article that said you couldn't - now if only i could remember which mag it was!
i have been thinking on getting an entry level DVD-A player (hopefully that also plays HDCD and SACD). Anyone know of an inexpensive one that plays all three?
thanks,
Ravi
the panasonic 563a.. it plays dvd-a and sacd's, and pretty much every other format. it has bass mgmt, and you can find it on-line or at your local retailer for around $170-$200 bucks.. all reviews say it is the best 'bang for buck' out there right now..

Do you guys know if you can burn a hybrid SACD? I mean of course only the redbook CD layer on a standard PC.
big john, just for clarification, that player is manufactured by Pioneer, not Panasonic.
And player 8 -- I've ripped the CD information from Ziggy Stardust and Darkside of the Moon on SACD, without any troubles.
Yes, a computer will read the standard CD layer of a hybrid SACD. I've done it many times.
Thanks guys, I will burn Dark Side of the Moon for the car ride..
roffels-- correct!! i had already left work when i realized i typed it wrong.. i was just coming to correct it.. apparently, it wont let you edit after a certain amount of time has passed.
thx for the correction.. busy day!!!
