I picked up an Onkyo HT-R510 (which is basically an Onkyo 501 but with a little more power) and I assumed it would accept virtually any Axiom speaker...however, the following section in the manual leads me to believe I shouldn't plug QS-8's into it (since they're rated at 6 ohms).

"Only use speakers with an impedance of between 8 ohms and
16 ohms. Connecting speakers with an impedance of less than
8 ohms may damage your HT-R510."

Thanks for any advice.

you will be fine.. they are being a little over cautious.. i have an onkyo 701, and the manual says the same thing. the 6ohm load of the QS8's, are easily pushed by the onkyos due to the fact that the QS8 are very efficient speakers.. now, i would NOT use the onkyo to try and push a 4ohm load like the M80 towers. .. that would be stretching the abilities of the receiver.. but have no concerns with the QS8's. it wont be a problem!

BTW- the onkyos do get warm.. so be sure and allow them plaenty of ventilation.

Just to add my 2cents. Bigjohn is right. I have the 601 with a VP150, M22tis, and QS8s. I have never had a problem. It does got pretty warm, but never to hot to touch. Just make sure you have 'room to breath' above the receiver and you should be fine.

Thanks very much BJ and JR!
