I was talking to a guy at a local retail store lately when looking at receivers. He asked what speakers I was going to use becuase he wanted to sell me Klipsch. I told him my Axioms where on the way...he said oh yeah Axiom, I've heard of them (NOT) anyway he tried to tell me to be careful as all the electronics/drivers within the Axioms are imported from Malaysia. I'm just curious where the drivers and such are mfg?

as discussed on some prior threads, i believe the woofers are mfg in china. all design, build, and construction is done at the factory in canada..

If his argument was that they're therefore crap, well, he's wrong. Just look at these boards! And if there is a problem, Axiom's great at taking care of it (which reminds me....)

If he's objecting to underpaid labor outsourcing, well, then, that's a different matter.

I totally agree, that is why I based my purchases on the feeback from many of you.... That is the same way I did it when looking for a front projector, I studied thousands of reviews and posted and PM'd many people on AVS, my Sanyo PLV-Z2 WXGA projector rocks....the other night I watched Open Range with Kevin Costner and Rober Duvall on about a 120" diag. 16x9, pretty awesome...HD with my OTA HD Receiver is freaking unbelievable.

I took what the Best Buy guy said with a grain of salt, he looked old enough to be my baby brother and I think it was like his 2nd week on the job. Oh well, you have to start somewhere...at least he had a job....

In reply to:

that movie sounds great with the axiom system. be prepared to watch it again once your system gets in. the opening storm/rain sequence is incredible.. you will think it is raining in your living room.. then, the gun battle at the end...... you will be ducking for cover.. great sequence that really shows off the ability of the QS8's..

I'm grinning from ear to ear thinking how this thing is going to sound. I'll have to experiment with the differant surround modes, this ProLogic IIx has got me interested, I've heard the bullets sound like they are going right through in 7.1.....

He should have known better - trying to sell Klipsch over Axiom? Oh wait, I just remembered. You were at Best Buy. Never mind.
siquack,

I wouldn't worry about something being mfg'd in Asia.

Your Denon, Toshiba and Sanyo are. Last I checked, Denon and Toshiba make great receivers and TV's, respectively.
Just a punk kid that can't find his a$$ from a hole in the ground. Most Best Buy employees seem to be like that. He also probably has a modified Honda civic with parts made in Taiwan or China. Then again who knows?
..........and to think the first Best Buy in our little city is under construction about 8 blocks from me. I'm not sure I will ever get to see the inside! I have no desire to go unless they do a great grand opening sale.........then I may have to check out a new TV! lol
I find the Best Buy employees uniformly nice and they attempt to be helpful, though with varying degrees of ignorance. Unfortunately they are put in the role of expert advice giver "we don't earn commissions - so you can trust our advice" but I blame the company for that.

I went to two best buys to listen to the Pioneer 563A - neither place had it or any other SACD player hooked up. Neither place was able to figure out how to hook it up. But, at least they tried!!
The only thing Best Buy will try to help me with is an extended warranty. I don't use extended warranties.
The employees are expected to gain product knowledge on their personal time and that's very unethical in my opinion. Your right, it's not the employees fault most of the time, I just have bad luck getting an arrogant moron that wants to sell me an extended warranty and didn’t even know the answers to my questions or even try to read the box.
The one here in Colorado Springs is really bad, I think they just needed warm bodies. The poor kids that work there are just doing what their told. Circuit City is just as unpleasant to shop at.

Not a problem at all, I realize that most good electronics are made over seas, I was just curious about the Axiom drivers... The Toshiba I was referring to is a progressive scan DVD player, not a TV, that is why I have a Sanyo projector for the HT. I do have a Toshiba 32" HDTV Flat tv in our upstairs living room though.

Yeah, those cars I believe are called ricers, they put those little go-kart tires on them and it looks like the axels are bowing in the middle. I would like to see them take those out on the interstate and run a 70mpg or more....they would shred to bits.
