OK,
I'm almost done, but I am coming up against another issue with the Yamaha 2500.
Is there a way,
if I am routing all of the video signals from my cable box through the 2500,
to watch the TV and listen to a different source at the same time?
I could do this with my old 2092, but I was not routing the cable signal through it.
On this one, I want to take advantage of the upsampling features on the 2500 to clean up and tighten the video signal I get from the cable (It really does make quite a difference) but I still want to be able to watch TV and listen to music at the same time.
Sigh,
This has always been my problem with gear upgrades,
I figure it is going to do everything that the old stuff did, and more, and then I find out that there are certain things that have been "improved out" of the equation.
Holler if any 2500 owners have found a way around this issue.
(And, as I am typing this, I am guessing that my answer is going to be found in the "monitor out" function behind the door...)

Yes, TJ, see p.38 of the manual. Note that, as mentioned there, if you want to do this, you should be listening to classical music; I've heard that any attempt to play any type of pop music in that mode will result in the receiver immediately shutting down.
Yeah, I found it last night reading while falling asleep.
But my manual says that it will only work if I am watching the Weather Channel and listening to NPR!
;-)

I remember doing this so many years ago...

Watch TV with the sound down, listen to good music... Oh yeah - do that other thing... rhymes with gong...
What the hell were you doing prancing about in a sarong??
...singing a song ?
