I have had ringing in my ears for years, but now I have it in my system. All tweeters, all speakers. I have determined that the ringing can be stopped by changing the surround mode (Denon 3805) from auto to direct. I can run through the different settings and any dolby or dts setting produces the ringing on vcr or sat. I have tried disconnecting the sub and changing inputs. The volume of the ringing increases with volume change. Any ideas?

Wow... just to say we ARE reading your post but I doubt any of us know what to do about it. The first thing I would do is to see if I could borrow a comparable (ie reasonably good) receiver for an hour or two, plug it in and confirm that the ringing is not there as well.

If your receiver makes a noise that other receivers do not that should give you a whole lot more credibility when speaking with mfg or dealer -- otherwise they're just gonna tell you to put the tinfoil hat back on and call them if the problem keeps happening

Please don't interpret my last comment as doubt about the problem you are hearing (my subwoofer is making noises that sound uncannily like a fireplace chimney with a vicious storm blowing overhead, even with the input cable unplugged), just a warning that if you are dealing with the drones in the audio world they're going to be pretty sceptical so you had better be well armed.

Armed with information that is. Don't look at the avatar.

I have ringing in my ears too, I have to stop taking my heart medication a few days before doing any serious listening-but I digress...

I've never heard any ringing in any of my five Axiom speakers, Three M3s and two M50s. Maybe the problem only exists on the M2,M22....(Oops, that's the ol' M50 Posse mentality coming through)

It sure seems on the surface that the problem lies in the electronics and not the speakers though.

Have you been using the 3805 for a long time or is it new to your current speaker set-up?(You may have said in a previous post, but I wouldn't know where to begin That kind of search) Agree, though, that plugging in a different receiver or even an old HTIB would help tie it down.

I have a Kenwood VR510 (THX) that I will try.
Thanks
