i have a tech question for all..

on receivers WITHOUT a phono input, i know you have to buy a small pre-amp or signal booster to plug the phono into, and then you can just go into one of the various auxillery inputs on the receiver.

what are these pre-amp or signal boosters called, for the phono.. and, where can i find some deals on some? or, just where can i find some?

thanks for your help..

Bigjohn,

They are called phono preamps and you can get a "usable" one from Radio Shack...

Just like most things audio, there are better ones (which usually cost more) but the one from Radio Shack will get you started...

You can also check out the forum on Turntables on the SPOT...there is some good information there...

Hope this helps.

BTW, we close on Friday.

Here's a NAD that works for me (about $120):

you could also head down to the local goodwill and pick up a vintage integrated or reciever that has one and just use its preamp outputs. Just a cheaper option.
