The spec sheets on this site say the M2i weight 11lbs, while the M3ti weighs 10lbs. Is this right? the M3's have a bigger enclosure, how can they be lighter?

There is more air inside the M3

I would expect the M3 to weigh more, although...

On the Canadian site the weights are different; I don't know which numbers are correct :

M2 weights 11.4 lbs and M3 weights 12.8

Simboticus,

Thanks for reminding me to check this. We discovered some incorrect weights on the QS8s and QS4s early in the summer and obviously there may be more. There's a problem with listing the packed weight or the speaker itself. At the plant, they tend to grab an already packed M3ti and stick it on the scale.

I climb onto my bathroom scale with and without the speaker and subtract.

Alan, we don't need to know about your private life!! At least you aren't in there with models that have the "Gorilla" ports!! HaHa!!

Alan, you left yourself wide open for that one.

No sympathy from the peanut gallery.

I think even the M2s have gorilla ports. Alan, you'd better get back in here fast

Hello all,

Yes, it was a good setup line, ha, ha.

Maybe we should plan a speaker "weigh-in" at the Axiom picnic and settle this.

OK Guys.....

I have half of the problem solved!.....YES!!

I weighed my center channel M3, and then weighed my two surround M3s. The surrounds weighed twice as much as my center.

I then reversed the procedure as a check, and found that the center weighed in at half as much as the surrounds.

Science and Math Rules!!

Well then. All of your M3s weigh the same. So, uh... what did they weigh?
Posted By: F107plus5 Re: Bookshelf weights incorrect? - 08/18/05 08:42 PM
They totaled 300 +/- .2% the weight of my center channel alone.

Pretty accurate....huh?

I'm so confused.
Posted By: F107plus5 Re: Bookshelf weights incorrect? - 08/18/05 10:38 PM
Ok...I took a two b' fur and measured half way.

layed it on the porch rail and had a Grandkid put an M3 on each end....and they didn't fall!

Then we put on different M3s and they still didn't fall!!

They bobbled up and down a bit and we measured the time differences of the cycles to get a good Delta W.

We had to quit when it started raining and we knew we didn't have outdoor speakers.

The alternative was to use the bathroom scale.....

Speaking of weigh-ins... How about having a contest at the picnic? The heaviest person in attendance gets your heaviest product. The lightest person gets your lightest product. The tallest person gets your tallest product. And the shortest person gets your shortest product.

And ...

all the average people get nothing.

Screw you, tallie!

Oooh Oooh, I get the EP600 !!!

Are you over 6 8?
Posted By: pmbuko Re: Bookshelf weights incorrect? - 08/19/05 03:01 AM
You're 6'8"? I guess I better start eating if I want an EP600, then.
Posted By: bugbitten Re: Bookshelf weights incorrect? - 08/19/05 03:04 AM
Actually I'm only 6' 4" and 313 lbs (down from 354 16 weeks ago), but maybe I can get my taller son to step up for me.

HOLLY CRAP!!! I'm a frigin' midget compared to all of you!!! On a good day, I'm 5'6" - probably closer to 5'5"!

And no, there will be NO midget toss at the Axiom GTG in September.

It was fun in high school, though. I always asked the tall girls to dance.

Google + I'm Feeling Lucky gives it away...

Figured it would, but anyone know without Google?

O.K. Ken that was just eerie. How did you know?
Posted By: Ken.C Re: Bookshelf weights incorrect? - 08/19/05 03:35 PM
It was the stepladder that gave you away.

Although I would be less suspicious of the google route if your avatar wasn't the picture from the "I'm feeling lucky" button...
