After reading numerous rave reviews about Axiom, I'm leaning toward getting Axiom speakers. I would love to audition the speakers before I actually order them online. I would hate to return them if I don't like them. There are just way too much hassle, not the mention the cost of shipping them back.

I am looking to build a 6.1 system with a pair of M60ti, VP150, QS8 for the three surround speakers, and EP500 sub.
I would love to hear the M60ti, VP150, and QS8 in action. I know that if I love the 5.1 system with those speakers, I would definitely love the additional QS8 even more.

Is there any kind Axiom owner out there that would let me listen to their system? I would drive to anywhere in the Seattle area or even to Portland, OR if I have to.

Thank you.

Hillsboro - M60s, VP150 and QS8s (DOUBTINGTHOMAS29)

Portland - M22ti (2_channel_guy)

Portland - M60s, QS8s, VP150 (rhehd)

Newport - M60s, VP150, QS8s, (kittel)

Send a PM to one of these folks!

There's someone in Puyallup, but since he's not on the list, I'll let him volunteer himself.
I upgraded my speakers and no longer own the M60ti's or the VP150. Sorry.

Upgraded? I think you meant to say you changed brands.

Why changed brands ? His money, his choice, so can it not be an upgrade in his opinion ?

sirquack likes to beat around the bush instead of calling people out and out traitors.

Didn't say anything about money or choice. The word upgrading assumes the new version is better than the previous, which is not always true, at least coming from an IT prospective. Depending on what he replaced his Axioms with, others may debate the use of the word upgrade, notice he did not tell us the name of his new brand.

I'll place money on BOSE, ha ha

I believe it was a pair of Quads that replaced his Axioms.

Though it's been a while, we've had a problem with the word "upgrade" around here before. My Webster's has the definition of "upgrade" as "1. to promote to a more skilled job at higher pay" (I think we can safely ignore that particular definition), and "2. to raise in importance, value, esteem, etc."

I don't know about you, but to me, that definition leaves defining something as an "upgrade" in the subjective realm. IF someone considers his new speakers to be more important to him than his old, he's made an "upgrade." IF his new speakers cost more, i.e, are more valuable, then they, legitimately, could be considered an "upgrade."

But, even if the new speakers cost less than the old, if the owner "values" them more, holds them in higher esteem, i.e. likes them more, then they also, legitimately, could be considered an "upgrade."

So, it seems to me, based on the dictionary definition above, if the new speakers cost more, or the owner likes them more, he can reasonably call them an upgrade, even if others might not feel the same. YMMV

Agreed

Thank you Jack.

Well said, but I knew that even without my dictionary.

OH YEAH? Well, when you get to be my age, you won't be able to remember definitions, and that dictionary will seem mighty handy. HAH!

When I get to be your age, I'll likely be drooling all over one of my children as they spoon applesauce past my gums. It's amazing you're still so independent at your age, let alone able to read a dictionary.

I owe it all to clean living.
You are correct Wid. I "changed" speaker brands and bought some Quad 22L's and Centre. I did keep my QS8's. I did have someone over for an audition before I sold them. After the audition he asked me to hook the Quad's up so he could have a listen. He had heard some Rocket 750's which he said weren't his cup of tea and was going to listen to some Aperions as well. Anyway, he also really enjoyed the sound of the Quads. So there are at least 2 of us who enjoy them.

I wonder how my thread became totally different topic from my original post? LOL...
Anyway, I finally ordered Axiom speakers just a few minutes ago. I get to audition them a few days ago thanks to Rohit (agarwalro). Rohit, if you are reading this, thanks for letting me listen to your system for over an hour. It was awesome! I can't wait till I get my speakers !!

Congrats, Edwin! Did you get the M60s and such as you indicated in your original post?

Enjoy! Getting new speakers is fun.

This happens more often than not around these parts.

Congrats on your new gear, hope you'll enjoy 'em for a long time to come and also ... welcome aboard!

Congrats on your buy! Did you FO or order first line stuff?
Posted By: Seattlelite Re: Audition in Seattle/Portland area ? - 06/07/06 02:16 PM
I got M60s, VP150, QS8s, and EP500 for 6.1 system. I didn't get it from the FO cause I just couldn't wait that long anymore.

I was thinking of getting SVS sub instead of the EP500. Rohit had the SVS when I was auditioning at his place and it sounded good. But I think the EP500 should sound as good as the SVS.
