Not that I'm anywhere near able to plunk down almost $4K for an amp anytime soon, but I'm curious if people who own them will be demoing them? I don't see anyone on the demo list as yet. How are they selling, I wonder? And will we be seeing big name reviews in major pubs? I hope so!

Axiom apparently cannot make more than 2 amps per day as they are hand made...and I guess they are flat out busy making them every day, they have enough orders to keep making them full out.

When I auditioned an epic 80/600 5.1 set up the person who gave me the audition had the axiom amp.

It sounded great. I never did any a/b comparisons so I can not comment much... But he was able to turn his m80's WAY LOUDER than I can with my 3808 without any hint of distortion.

I waited about 3-4 months for mine. It is a spectacular amp that is well worth the wait and the asking price. I too realized immediately that the M80s have much more capability in them than my Yamaha integrated amp (110W/ch) was able to bring out. Your point about who would be auditioning this amp is an interesting one. I know of only five other forum members who bought this amp. Majority of the buyers are likely not members of this forum. I live in CT and can audition on Feb 30th if anyone would like to come over. If that date will not work for you, just send a pm and we'll arrange something. \:\)

Feb 30, huh? The amp is that amazing that the world did an extra spin? Good to know. ;\)

It's a double leap year, happens once every other decade and a three quarters. ;\)

Haylo75 in Kansas city is the forum member who auditioned his axioms and A-1400 to me.

I am sure he would do the same for others if he has time.

I would even push it to Feb 31st! \:\)

I'm not ready to go onto the audition list yet, but I would like to at some point.

The A1400-8 was definitely a jump up from my Onkyo receiver, but it was a lower-end model, and I don't have a feel for amplifiers in between that receiver and the A1400-8.

terzaghi - thanks for the props! It's been awhile since I've been online here... work and other things are keeping me too busy.

I am available anytime for an A1400-8 audition and live in the Kansas City area. I know that's too far for some, but I just thought I'd throw it out there.

I had one channel on my last A1400-8 keep turning on and off due to suspected thermal issues. As always, Axiom with their great customer service sent me a replacement amp, allowing me to keep my existing amp running on the remaining channels while I waited for receipt of the replacement. Things have been going well with the latest amp, which I've had in place for about a week now.

haylo,
glad to see you are still around!

Did you get some type of check from axiom since I mentioned you when I made my purchase?

Actually they pass out gift certificates now. Since Axiom sells wire and various other accessories, there is always something one can buy with the credit.
How about a tshirt anyone? ;\)

Hmm, for some reason i cannot access the link to the Fun Store.

terzaghi - Yes, I did receive a GC from Axiom after your purchase - thanks!

I am looking at the computer speakers now.

Changing from check to gift cards is going to keep everyone looking to upgrade!

Out of curiosity, what is the gift certificate worth that Axiom sends out? Is it a fixed amount or some % of the purchase price?

I just did an audition in Austin and believe Axiom is sending some love WhatFurrer's way as a result. As soon as I get my system set up I'm planning to open up for auditions as well.

Historically, if you do an audition in your home and the person purchases and mentions your name at the time of purchase, or if they forget and you let Axiom know you held the audition, you get a 5% check of the purchase price.

Thanks for the info.

And they keep them past the 30 day trial...and why wouldn't they
Posted By: haylo75 Re: Auditioning A1400-8? - 02/22/08 03:07 AM
I can confirm that the new customer needs to keep the speakers past the 30 day trial and that the GC is for 5% of the new customer's purchase. Great deal if you ask me!
Posted By: terzaghi Re: Auditioning A1400-8? - 02/22/08 03:23 AM
Cool, so you got a $150 GC for my epic 80/500 5.1 factory outlet purchase? Not a bad deal for an hour or two of your morning eh? Thanks again btw. I wish my girlfriend could have came but I guess she has got to hear the M80's plenty now that they are in our living room

Hmmmm... now If I can convince someone nearby to buy some axioms so I can apply a GC to another ep500
Posted By: haylo75 Re: Auditioning A1400-8? - 02/22/08 03:30 AM
Yeah, I believe it was $150. I'm going to be spending it soon methinks. No problem at all, that was the most I've ever been paid for an hour's worth of, *ahem*, work ;\) If you're ever in KC again feel free to give me a shout.

So, does your gf still maintain her stance that all speakers sound the same regardless of price?

another ep500? That's ballsy if you're not out in the country!
Posted By: terzaghi Re: Auditioning A1400-8? - 02/22/08 03:44 AM
I think she likes the speakers a lot. She doesn't really listen to that much music on them though... She loves them for HT.

I am def. not in the country, but I think I am going to get another ep500 sometime in the comming months.

I had a problem with my first ep500 (slight rattle) so they sent me a driver, then they sent me an amp... and ultimately they ended up sending me a whole new ep500 so I had a couple of days to play with 'em both and really liked it.
I sent back the amp and the first sub, but they let me keep the driver.

I called axiom and I can get an ep500 amp and an enclosure for like $930 (or maybe it was $970 I forget). I just need to rig up the internal wiring or ask them how much that would cost. Either way I could save a couple hundred since I have a driver already... I was just thinking that if I added a GC on top of that It would be CHEAP.

Posted By: haylo75 Re: Auditioning A1400-8? - 02/23/08 05:27 PM
Are you more on the music side? I have been doing a lot more HT than music on my Axioms as I spend a lot of time in my office on the other side of the house... which is why I'm looking at the PC speakers!

The EP500 idea sounds cool, and like you said cheap, esp. if you can get a referral GC \:\)
Posted By: terzaghi Re: Auditioning A1400-8? - 02/23/08 06:30 PM
Probably 70% HT and gaming and 30% music actually. I don't really use the sub for music so the additional sub would be for HT.

I am in no rush to buy another sub though (one ep500 works fine ;\) ).. It's just something I would like to have eventually.

I think next on the list will be a bluray player. I have considered getting a different amplifer, (mono blocks or a 2 channel amp for the M80's... or perhaps an axiom amp.) That would be a year or 2 down the road though as my denon 3808 really is doing a great job driving everything.
Posted By: haylo75 Re: Auditioning A1400-8? - 03/01/08 05:44 PM
Cool, after the Blu-ray player, I'd say something to drive the M80's would make you real happy. Since you don't like to use the sub while listening to music, a hefty 2 channel amp will really help out the lows on the M80's. It's nice to hear that your Denon drives them well regardless.
