I have had many amps through the years. The old Axiomites if they came around anymore could tell ya stories. I even had a haunted EP600 that had a poltergeist. Anyway, I would be hard pressed to ever give up my Outlaw which drives most of my system. When Emo was fairly new I had their MPS1 top of the line amp. It was a beast but could not drive my M80s. They played the blame game back/forth saying the 80s were dipping down to 1ohm, ha ha ha. Anyway, Lonnie (may not be at Emo anymore) wanted me to disable their onboard limiter circuit per his instructions. I am a tech guy and had no issues with doing that, but in the end I got rid of the Emo and went to German made Odyssey Khartago monoblocks for many years. Long story short I do use a Emo Basx 5 channel amp to drive 4 of my Axiom in-ceiling speakers for Atmost duty.

The system now rocks, even though Ian and Debbie keep trying to work a deal out with me yearly to upgrad my beloved fronts.

Lonnie is still there ... sounds like their on-board limiter was a little too aggressive (or perhaps out of spec).

I've done the blame game and the customer is usually the one who takes the fall.
Think you did it right ... identify the offender and junk it.

Upgrade from M80 v4 to LFR880?
I'm assuming you have v4s given you have a VP180. If so, the LFR provides a big soundstage, richer midrange and bass. It is a nice sound but at the cost of additional amps, cables, space.

If you have earlier versions of the Axiom speakers, you might want to hear the differences first before committing.
