Just wondering...now that the loonie is worth over 70 cents USD, are there any plans to update the Canadian prices on Axioms?

Good question.

sorry for jumping in here Chess

"Loonie" is the unofficial but commonly-used name for Canada's gold-coloured one-dollar coin. It bears an image of a common loon, Canada's national bird, on the reverse. It replaced the paper $1 bill.

Then there is the "Toonie", LOL, it is a two dollar coin that replaced the $2 bill

for images go to http://www.etourist.ca/currency/

I wonder if Axiom would sell to Canadians who pay in US dollars?

Ford has it right on the nose.
But no, unlike the loon on the loonie there is no picture of a 'toon' on the front of the "toonie".

Up until about a year ago, all prices were in US dollars, so even if you were Canadian you paid in US dollars. However, taxes and shipping were included in this. I believe you now have to pay taxes if you are in Canada but shipping is still free.

Axiom's current price for the Epic80 is $2,413 US, that converts (according to the Bank of Canada's site) to $3,361 Canadian which is far from the Canadian price of $3,715 that Axiom is asking. Hence my question about Axiom accepting US funds from Canadians.

please accept the above as mostly tongue-in-cheek although a dollar is a dollar.

that is a very good point, FordPrefect.

Axiom should adress this. Especially because I think it costs them more money to ship to the USA than in Canada.

Beware wary of what you ask for. If a majority of axioms sales are to the US, axiom will in fact be making less on them thanks for the weakening US dollar, perhaps they would bump canadian prices to match the US exchange to offset the loss due to the lower US dollar.

I don't think that will be the case. If I remember Ian's explanation, the increase in price was because of the weak dollar raising the cost of raw materials.

Anything is possible, but hiking prices simply to compensate weaker US profits would do serious damage to Axiom's goodwill. That's the sort of tactic being used now by the insurance industry to offset losses in the stock market, and makes customers none too happy.

Axiom needs to broaden US sales to make maximum $. Maybe they're keeping the prices low down here to sell more speakers, develop some name recognition, and cash in later.

If I had any friends they'd probably come over to my house, like what they hear, and order some Axioms themselves. Sell more speakers now and that will happen more often in the future.

Canadian prices are down! Sorry for the delay - I was single-handedly trying to help the Quebec economy (read: girl's shopping trip to Montreal. Ravi must be broke!)

If you find anywhere on the site where I missed the decrease, please let me know! Details aren't my forte, LOL.

The stands were the exception - they were priced differently, so that was corrected in the general adjustments today.

And, BTW, it's actually not less expensive to ship in Canada - so much geography, so few shipping companies. Just ask the poor man in Alberta whose speakers were delayed this spring because the train they were on hit a moose! Yowza! Now there's something that never happens in L.A.!

Excellent.
That is good to hear.
Not that i'm buying any more Axioms right now but that a company adjusts prices according to economy change is a real plus.
My U.S. made cereals are still costing me six bucks a box and i don't foresee the price dropping anytime soon.

Hi Amie,

You asked to be notified if you missed any re-pricing...well, the "Factory Outlet" prices are now higher than the "first quality" products?

It's a new marketing technique . . . just kidding. Thanks for catching that! I had modified the prices at the back end, but not on the screen. Sorry!

Wow that was fast! Now if only Axiom could hire some more accident prone people.....I'm waiting for a pair of maple M3's to show up in the factory outlet.

No offense but i try to shop in Canadian stores myself.
Gotta support the local economy so Walmart is not on my list of weekly shopping locales.

Hey Amie, while we are having you here...

One of my friends just discovered an important misinformation on the Products page:

All Axiom Centers feature:

* Titanium Tweeters
* Aluminum Woofers (and Midranges where applicable)
* Anti-Standing-Wave cabinets that suppress internal resonances which color sound
* Video-shielded for maximum placement options
* Vortex-ported cabinets to reduce port noise
* 5-way gold-plated binding posts

Of course, all Axiom center channels are sealed designs!!!

Hi Sushi,

Thanks for spotting that. I thought I'd caught most of the errors on the site.
