I thought I would start a new thread. So here it is and below is the link if anybody wants to get involved with this.

ROTEL RMB-1075 DRAW

How many tickets max per person, or are we worried about it?

I would say to keep this fair for all, we should have a max of 4 tickets. If it looks like we won't hit 100, then we can open up the gates so to speak. Does that work for all?

I can't seem to find where to insert my username at paypal payment. Strange, since they come with a comments section, which I don't find there. Any idea how to fix this? It will be very confusing for NeverHappy. BTW great idea for the raffle!!!

Create a PayPal shipping address with username and forum in the name line. Address as usual. Use that shipping address in your PayPal payment form even though there is no shipping. BSC will get your info that way.

Morning all! 11 tickets sold to date. I just updated the site. Several of you have run into problems with listing your username and forum. Anyway, if possible use what was mentioned above as it works! Unfortunately I can't add in another space on PayPal's payment page for some reason. I was going to list who has all bought but it's going to be tricky now as all I have for some folks is there real name etc. So I will skip it and just keep the web-page with the draw link updated.

P.S. I will be out most of today (Happy Birthday to me) so if anybody needs anything, I won't be able to answer until tonight.

One more thing. I have had a few people PM me and ask if I'm giving the whole $2500.00 raised to charity or will I be deducting the cost of the amp and shipping.

So just to be clear. The full $2500.00 raised goes to charity. I'm covering the initial cost of the amp and will also cover shipping to the buyer........but I hope like hell they don't live in Hawaii or something!

Alaska.

I'll split the costs with ya if my number comes up. But I wouldn't be too concerned about that. I never win raffles, drawings or even at slot machines.

Well that's good to know Mike, looks like I'll be splitting the shipping cost to south Florida then.

Don't you worry one bit Mike, I never win diddly squat either...I believe you are in good shape!

'Jon' LOL...reminds me of a guy I once worked with, spelled his name J-o-n and if somebody ever spelled it J-o-h-n the dude would go completely nuts. I suppose I could understand, I remember whenever I was a youngster back in Oklahoma all of the old people would call me Dick, god I hated that name...even at 7 years old I just knew it wasn't right. Different nowadays though, my wife calls me that sometimes but for some reason she thinks my last name is Head.

Well John, if it's any consolation to you, my last name is Richard, without the "s" on the end. If I fail to make that ABSOLUTELY CLEAR, I invariably get "Richards" as my last name.

For 55 years, when asked my name, I've said "that's Richard, no "s," so many times, that I sometimes think my last name is Richardnoess.

Yeah, I'm Carlile. Pronounced as spelled, like Carlisle or Carlyle. C-A-R-L-I-L-E. "C-A-R-L-what?"

Also:
Mr. um...Charlie? Mr. um... Carlily?

One thing about Indian call centers... they pronounce my name right.

Jack I must admit, that would be very difficult for the masses to not put an 's' on the back of your last name. I can see where it would take my slow brain a time or two to adjust!

As simple as Mike is to pronounce, many people still screw that up. I just don't understand how they get Jerk / A$$hole / Prick / S-O-B / Bastard, and my girlfriend's favorite, "buthead".

I don't mind though. They're just mistaken. I'm an angle and very easy to get along with......sometimes.

What really irritates me is when people call me "Drew". I find it disrespectful and start having military flashbacks of drill instructors and arrogant officers or higher ranking enlisted men barking out my last name. I never refer to someone by their surname as a rule. If I do, it starts with a Mr, Mrs, Miss.

Mike - We seem to share many of the same appellations, except your girlfriend seems to be advanced. IT is my wife of 16 years who calls me butthead - your girl got there a LOT faster.

I went thru school with a fella whose name was Dursa Craig. His biggest problem was with folks who assumed that he had written his name "last Name First"

It was a bit confusing when we tried(as kids often do)to call him by his last name cause it sounded like we were calling him by his first name and when we were being friendlier and called him by his first name it always sounded as if we were calling him by his last.

One interesting thing though; of all the kids in my seventh grade class, his is about the only one whose name I recall, and we weren't even very good friends, mostly just aquaintences.

I was in a band once with two other guys named Bruce Michael, and Ian Jack. So we were Jack Richard Bruce Michael Ian Jack. It sounded like there were six of us. Actually there were 4 of us, but George Stegner spoiled the whole "first name only" thing.

I bought a ticket. I was having a tough time putting in another address / means of payment (so I could add the forum and username), so I just logged in separately and paid through the "send money" link to your account. It looks a little different, so hopefully you won't mind this route. I did put the subject name in the title. Please let me know if you need something else, and thanks for the good deed.

This may have already been mentioned before, but FYI, Outlaw Audio is doing a fund raiser for Save the Children. They are raffling their new receiver w/ shipping included for a $50 ticket and you get a complimentary Outlaw s-video cable shipped by them to you for your donation. Pretty sweet deal since it normally goes for 50 bucks anyway.

I bought a raffle ticket at 3AM early yesterday morning after having way too many beers and didn't even remember it until I saw the confirmation email today. Cracked me up! I was like "Oh yeah, forgot about that one!"

Roughly 25% of the tickets are gone. With over 3500 users here it would be nice if all the tickets get sold through here! I'm starting to notice a few folks from other places that are jumping on this. At the end of the day, I don't think it matters who wins it but it would be a huge bonus if a regular from here wins this thing!

NeverHappy, I'm sure once the long holiday weekend wears off and things settle back to a normal(?!?) workweek again more folks will be checking in. If it still looks like slow running around these parts in a couple of more days I'll order up a couple more tickets.

In case anyone wants a peek at the actual amp, here you go! It looks like it has some marks on one side but not to worry, it's the picture not the amp.

I want it, I want it, I want it.

Nay, I need it.

I wish I could just go out and buy one (with no fallout from the wife). If I won it, she couldn't argue. Although I'm sure she'd find something to complain about (too black, too big, too heavy, too much power, wrong colour power LED, etc.)

I'm happy to report that we have hit the 50% mark! If the pace keeps up, it looks like I will be giving this thing away close to the end of the month!

Thanks to all who have gotten in on this!

I'm trying to convince the wife to let me buy a couple more . If anything, at least it is for a good cause.

Yep, I checked before buying a ticket. The only thing more expensive to ship than an amplifier is radioactive waste.

At least with radioactive waste they will be carefull not to drop the shipment .

I need the amp to help keep me warm during the up coming winter here in Winnipeg. All one can do at the end of January / beginning of February is to stay home and watch movies or listen to tunes anyways.

Yeah, so contribute to the cause people! And try for a great amp.

Personally ( Sob story coming ) I have never won anything...notta, zip.. not a free coffee, free coke, not even a free ticket on a lotto. But, at least the money is going to something good. I never buy tickets to win things anymore unless it's a good cause.

I'm sure we have many axiom owners out there that have been effected by these darn hurricanes. Even we have been hit by some major rainfall and winds. 150mm yesterday alone. Major flooding on parts of the island, evacuation of some small towns, highways all closed...just fun stuff. Nothing compared to what the US is going through but I can definitely sympathize with them

OK, I just got a ticket. Personnally, I don't know what I would do with the amp, since my current receiver is only 2 channel.

Wait a second...I see an opportunity. It would be a great thing to push the issue with the wife for an immediate upgrade...
"Look honey, this amp is designed for 5 channels - if we don't fill them all up, it may wreck the expensive amp. Our old Denon is only 2 channels. I think we should go out today and pick up a new one"

yup, that would work ;^) maybe???

I'm glad to be part of this action.
I've got one ticket, am I going to get a confirmation (email/tracking #)?

Regards,

Q. Chances of wife buying the "we have to upgrade because we won the amp" story?
A. Less than those of actually winning in the first place (1%).

Q. Chances of money going to a good cause?
A. 100%.

So no worries on my part, the upgrade will come in time, but we can help people out now.

Cheers,
Rob

I just purchased a second ticket. I'm in the final stages of planning my home theater room in the basement, and I should start construction next week. I need the draw to take place so I can determine if I'll have to add height to one of the shelves in my component rack for this beast of an amp!

It will be a random draw. Everyone who has entered gets an entry in a box I have going based on how many tickets they bought. When we sell out, my 8 year daughter is going to pull the winner and that is that.

As for your confirmation, I just checked and everyone who has entered had a confirmation email go out.............but Hotmail and Yahoo have been spamming some and placing them in spam folders.

If I don't win this, which is likely, maybe I can win Wednesday's Iowa powerball of 340 million

Yep, actually Des Moines is like the 3rd largest city in the nation for Insurance companies. My company has over 12,000 employees just in Des Moines.

I'm sure your joking, but people seem to still think we drive around in horse and buggies Your confusing us with Wyoming, ha ha...

I was most certainly joking. Everyone knows people actually live in Iowa -- I was probably thinking of Nebraska. That's just a big county you drive through on your way to Iowa, right?

Ah...another Iowan here! Where I live, we've got river boat casinos and people get bussed here on tours and have no idea where they are. A lot of them think they're in Chicago!

To be honest I don't have a clue where this fellow came from. No indication was given. We emailed him about 3 hours and so far, no response.

To be honest, I did think of this which is why I still have the bucket sitting here just in case. I will wait a week or so and see how it goes but I'm sure the guy will show up. He bought 4 tickets so I'm sure he has his eye on things.

Maybe he is shy!

Dennis, this was all done many moons ago. If I recall it took him almost 3 weeks to make contact. He went on holiday’s right before we held the draw. lol

I'm thinking of doing it again soon. This time around my wife has decided that proceeds will go to the Make A Wish Foundation. Good choice as far as I'm concerned.

Problem I'm working on now is what to give away.

I'll be in the market for a Rotel RMB-1095 5 channel amp in the near future Never, that would be a neat little give-away item.

BTW, Welcome back...Kotter!
