Well, you're unlikely to destroy anything, but I don't know that the M60s would be a good match with the center, and I know little about the sub. Interesting design, though. Then again, I used my TV speakers as a center channel until I got the VP100. Any port in a storm...

Wait, you're using that big Polk sub and just the sattelites from the other system? What are you using to drive this assemblage?

I have a Yamaha RX-V2600 receiver, I want to set up a 7.1 system. I am looking to buy a set of front speakers.

Would the m60ti and the 150 center be ok with the polk sub and surround speakers?

John

Those little Polks won't match well, but we are only talking about the surrounds. I think that it would be fine until you have the $ for matching surrounds.

Perhaps you should arrange a demo with an Axiom owner to hear the M60s? What kind of music do you listen to? What other speakers have you heard and liked/disliked?

Whatever you decide on, I wouldn't be overly concerned with mating your new speakers to those little satellites - that system will probably be in the bedroom once you experience a full-sized surround system in your own family room.

Ideally, you want to have similarly matched speakers. If you are a limited budget, you would probably want to replace the front and center speakers at the minimum to achieve timbre matching. Afterwards, you can then replace the the surround sound speakers.

Matching speaker brands with subwoofers brands is less important. Having different brands is probably more the norm.

i say, get the 60's see how you like the set up, then decide if you want a bigger center channel.. if money isn't a Huge issue, then i would say to go ahead and get a 150 along with the 60's...

i would honestly say that those sattlites would probably be fine as surrounds.. keep in mind 70% of the sounds come from the center channel, so the center is the most important speaker for movies, and HD.. sure you could buy more expensive surrounds, they may sound better, but the speakers you already have, are already paid for and in my opinion that’s a damn good price. So get your 60’s and if you can afford it get a 150, then put the pulks in the back, and use the pulk sub that you already have, im sure it will sound just fine.. I was using a JL 10” sub for a while with my 60’s and I enjoyed it just about as much as I do my system with my ep600. Granted the JL was no where near as loud and didn’t have the presence that the 600 has, but the JL also didn’t cost 1700$ or what ever it is..

I found that even grossly mismatched speakers worked OK as surrounds as long as the front 3 speakers were matched OK. Didn't work well for 5 channel music (plan on playing most music in 2.0 or 2.1) but was fine for movies.
