Hi all...reference my sig below for my equipment, or just look at the pics. As far as the room itself, the photos are below.

I have two questions.

1. Would QS8s be better served on stands in locations of my current surrounds, or mounted on the wall...mid-way or up toward the ceiling?

2. When I get the EP500 sub, with the rest of the equipment I have, is my VP100 center going to make the system unequal? I ask because the Axiom theater kits that match what I have come with the VP150

Yes, the room is pretty small with lots of entry ways.

Hi… I have my QS8s placed on the Axiom stands in each back corner the way it appears your surrounds are now. I tried many locations both up hi and on stands and found that for my room and personal preferences the back corners on stands sounded best. Since you seem to have walls for them to reflect off of I think the corner placement may also work for you.

I did notice that when I tried them to the sides at about 90 degrees they sounded best when elevated to 6 feet or the tops of them about a foot below the 8 foot ceiling, but the corner placement with walls to reflect off just sounds far more enveloping to me.

I also noticed that elevating them while in the back corners didn’t sound quite as good to me as on the stands. I think part of that is having about 5 feet behind me for the rear sound field to develop. And on the stands they are close to the same level as the tweeters on the M80s.

I think your VP100 will do fine since you say it’s a small room. Just calibrate everything and it should all work out for you.

Nice looking room by the way.

Dean

You are not sitting that far back so the VP 150 will be more than ample and the surrounds I think might be a personal preferrance situation. Some like the sound from the stands, others prefer the wall mount and those like me have no other options but wall mount up high to keep them away from kids and the odd thrown object.

So far then, I guess it's looking like stands. Ceiling mounting in my case would look like ass anyway, since I don't want to go through the wall to hide the wires.

Thanks for the compliment on the room. A little too loud of equipment for the size, but we'll be moving into a bigger house shortly anyway.
