DHL dropped off one M3 last Friday and then dropped off the other one on Monday. Spectacular. . . It was a busy weekend and I wouldn't have had time to do any serious listening anyway, but it was still frustrating. Really, I've only been able to sit down for a couple hours on Monday night to spend time with them. My plan is to put together a speaker comparison with some other bookshelf speakers that I have. That'll happen over the holidays more than likely. Here are some pics of the High Gloss Burled Walnut:

The high gloss finish is really difficult to photograph without horrendous reflections. Maybe I should try taking them outside during the day to avoid the camera flash. Very elegant looking finish, if I say so myself!

Nice looking, I like the custom finish.

Thanks guys!

And Tom, if it makes you feel better, sometimes I can't listen to my speakers because I'm too busy driving around in my Ferrari with my supermodel girlfriend. . .

Those are beautiful!

I was tossing the idea around on ordering the Burled Walnut instead of the HG Cherry but without seeing it and mainly due to decor the HG Cherry won out. A set of Burled Walnut M3's in a another room though....hmmm

It was a tough call. I really like what I've seen of the pics of HG Cherry, but in the end I wanted something completely different from everything else I have.

The amp's on, I just put a tape measure in front of the bulb. It's too bright at night. It's like a blue lighthouse beacon.

I really like the finish on your M3s ... for some reason that finish reminds of a nicely finished rifle stock, warped I know, but true.

Nice setup Sean!

Finally got some time to sit down and do some serious listening and was surprised how much these little guys can rock! Put on some Foo Fighters and cranked up the volume--wow.

Still want to spend more time with 'em. Also, gotta find some temporary speaker stands so I can do a little speaker comparison. So far, by themselves, the M3s are really enjoyable.

I want to lick them. Yummy.

The finish looks incredible...the wood pattern is eye-popping.

Are you trying to be even more suggestive than Peter?

No...that was my "serious" sentence...I really do think the pattern is eye-popping.

But if I beat out Peter at being suggestive...I guess that is a compliment? Eh?

>>... for some reason that finish reminds of a nicely finished rifle stock, warped I know, but true.

It is a good analogy. Custom rifles are one of the few places where a really high quality piece of wood was always given a gloss finish -- presumably to help keep it waterproof. Some of the nicest wood patterns I have ever seen (most of them, in fact) have been on rifle stocks.
