I've always enjoyed the original Twilight Zone episodes, clever writing, paradigm shifts, acting ect. I recently watched a few episodes of a show that actually came out several months before Twilight Zone called One Step Beyond. It ran for three years in the late 50's/early 60's and was based on true but unexplained events. It's really a very well written show with great acting, similar in style to The Twilight Zone....just wondering if anyone's seen it or perhaps some of you 'older guys' remember it and what you thought of it...

I'm waiting for Babylon 5 to come back for re-runs. Of all the many scifi shows that haven't hit Space channel yet, i thought that one for sure would be running by now.

Eh, just get the DVDs. Hell, I'd be willing to loan them to you, but shipping is probably slightly exorbitant.

I never finished Season 5 or the movie set, but I do own all of them.

I don't recall "One Step Beyond" but I did enjoy Twighlight Zone reruns. I like Babylon 5 as well.

Space 1999 was a big one when I was a kid. Althought for some reason I had reoccuring nightmares about being trapped in the tube transport thingies. Speaking of which, it's now 13 years since 1999 and still no moonbase. Disapointing. I remember doing the math as a kid and I should have been a veteran Eagle pilot by now.

I loved "The Twilight Zone"! I also used to watch Rod Serling's, "The Night Gallery". But, it was more horror based than sci-fi. My brother used to enjoy the series, "Quantum Leap".

Yep! "The Twilight Zone" and "The Outer Limits" were my favorites.

I own the completely Twilight Zone series on BD. If you've not seen these remasters, and like the show, you really owe it to yourself.

I've just started on a revisit of the complete Stargate canon. Starting with the film, on to SG-1, then Atlantis, the the SG-1 movies, and finishing with Universe (I hope they release the second season on BD by the time I get there).

I really enjoyed SGU, but it had "short-lived" written all over it.

Agreed. My favorite of the SG series was SG1. I loved the well done mix of blending of ancient mythology with advanced alien culture. The visits to both under and overdeveloped worlds was reminiscent of the original Star Trek. The running story lines had the benefit of added variety any time they needed it by exploring a new world with the Stargates. A big advantage to the writers who put it to good use.

I watched SG Atlantis as well but it just didn't draw me in as much. SG Universe was going down some sark and mysterious paths that had my attention for sure but like you, I never expected to see an ending.

My sister still freaks out if I remind her of that episode!

My favorite Twilight Zone was the one where the man was attacked by miniature space men in his house.

I actually just finished the 5yr run of Babylon 5. Great Series. I just finished Farscape before it. So far Farscape is one of my top favs. The chemistry between John and Aeryn was really fantastic. Just give it a chance to the end of season 1 until the introduction of Scorpius and you'll be hooked!

Another great show that sadly only lasted one season was Space, Above and Beyond.

Me three... I used to watch Tails from the Cript too. A bit creepier than TZ, but I thought it was good.

I wish Firefly would have ran some more. I thought that one was very clever.

I might have to buy the Babalon 5 series. I have only seen parts of shows, and what I did see, looked pretty good.

So does the 5th season get better than the early episodes? It really felt tacked on to me--I mean, the first 4 pretty much resolved everything except how awful the Centauri situation was. And maybe Psycorps, I don't really remember how that arc ended.

Plus I really liked the Russian second in command better than the new one.

The 5th season I found to be much more comtemplative. It's true that most shows go out with a big bang but I don't think Babylon 5 was quite that type of show.

Apparently the Russian second in command, Susan, had a pay dispute for the 5th season so they replaced her. Definitely replacing her was a mistake.

If you haven't watched Farscape, you definitely have to give it a try. They also just released it on blu ray which is what I got. What I loved about it is the main character Crichton. Every episode he was literally on the verge of a breakdown and episode after episode, you can slowly see him cracking. It's one of the few shows I wanted to rewatch right after watching the last episode.

Agreed! I loved that show even though it to forever before I got to watch all the episodes. I would say the same thing for Firefly which was a fantastic though short run series.

I loved SG1 especially the Goa’uld story arc, but the follow on series just never grabbed me. I just didn’t feel the chemistry between the actors as in the first one. IMO that was the only thing that saved the later SG1 episodes was the chemistry between Ben Browder and Claudia Black which they had already developed from Farscape.

At first I didn’t care for Farscape but then I was able to marathon watch it on the SciFi channel (I think they spelled it that way back then) just before the release of the “Peacekeeper Wars” movie and fell in love with it.

I always liked Babalon 5 but never really appreciated it as much as I should until I finally got it on DVD and was able to watch it all the way through.

I can’t believe no one has mentioned the original Star Trek. I still like the show but have watched it so many times I practically have the dialogue memorized. It’s also one of the few shows where IMO the follow on shows were, with the exception of “Deep Sleep 9” often better than the original.

Another one that took time to grow on me but then I fell in love with was the Dr. Who franchise.

I also really liked these shows although some might not classify these as science fiction they often had a scifi element to them . . . Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, The Wild Wild West, The Avengers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dark Angel, Xena and Hercules.

One of my favorite old Sci-Fi show was Time Tunnel.
Each episode had characters traveling back to a unique historical period. As with usual time-travelling, there are continuity discrepancies and history-altering issues, but entertaining nonetheless.

I have both seasons on DVD and though they seem a bit cheesy now, I really enjoyed this show when originally broadcast.

I loved Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea as well as Time Tunnel...gee I think we're dating ourselves..How about Land of the Giants?

I actually really like Deep Space 9.

I don't remember the show very well, but I loved the beginning to Space 1999.

Space 1999, that takes me back. It was almost the only thing to watch on CBC television back then, well besides HNiC. We were just talking about Time tunnel at work last week.
