I finally got a Plasma…..!! Please bear with my enthusiasm; I have had a 60” DLP since 2000…
So, to my question, what equipment racks do you guys use? The equipment I have is as follows. Processor Amp X3 Blu-ray player Cable box I am thinking about a horizontal salamander equipment rack, this way I can put all of the components below the Plasma. I will also be able to get a shelf for my vp-180. Salamander can do custom heights for the additional shelf so the 180 will have room. Below are the items I am thinking about. This rack. http://www.salamanderdesigns.com/syn/synergy.jsp?modelbase=sl20 With one of these. http://www.salamanderdesigns.com/syn/synergy.jsp?modelbase=slr I would get the riser legs cut to a custom height of about 10” this would give me ¾” of clearance for the VP-180, and I would probably leave the back off. With the Riser, I can put the plasma on top of the riser. Right now I have the VP-180 leveled out, and the plasma is sitting directly on the 180. Below is the Plasma. http://www.frys.com/product/7326984?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG Any other ideas, or brands i should look at? I have some other Salamander stuff, and it is pretty nice. |

I totally understand your enthusiasm , if they made computer monitors that were plasma I would be first in line. As for the stand everyone has their own taste, I like to see the equipment others like it disguised and others like it completely out of sight in a closet. stiljoe has a real nice cabinet, very nice setup imho .

I found something similar to this, only all white, at a garage sale that a local church was having. I got a stack of 2 of them for about $15 total. Washed up good and is hidden in a closet.
See. I don't buy everything new. Closet has 2 sliding doors. I slide the left door open to get to the backsides, and the right door open to get to the front sides. Perfect. ![]() Edited by CatBrat (01/07/13 04:23 PM)

That plastic is sturdy enough to hold 100lbs of expensive electronics?

You can buy new at the large hardware stores. ![]() I finally found an image of what mine looks like. Looks like I got ripped off. New they are $14 at Lowes. I paid $7 each for 2 shelves in a garage sale. The 4 posts and shelves are individual pieces that stack together. I have my power supply / surge protector on the bottom, then my Receiver, then my BD player. When I get my 2nd receiver, the BD player moves to the empty top shelf and the new receiver to the 2nd shelf. It's plenty sturdy for this stuff, as long as it's in an out of the way place, like my closet where it won't get knocked around. The Pioneer SC-67 is about 17 1/2 inches wide. There will be about 3/8 inch clearance on each side, and it'll stick out the front and back about 2 inches each side. Edited by CatBrat (01/07/13 06:05 PM)

Thanks for the opinions guys.
However, I may windup building something. I could probably build something out of cedar myself for around $1-200. 2 of my amps are 43lbs, and my third amp is 107lbs. The larger amp will be on a ground level shelf, for obvious reasons. Having the equipment viewable is fine. All of the amps are Class A amps, and generate a decent amount of heat, so having an open design would be a plus. |

This is what I bought, very sturdy and stylish imo. I did have to add on to the metal tv mount to move it up to make room for my center. Most entertainment stands look like a dresser that you would put in a bedroom, just not my style. Im with you on building your own. Now that I have some woodwork tools I would definitely build my own.Keep us updated if you decide to go homebrew.

I'm looking at the Salamander unit as well. The following should also fit a VP180. The following are other options:
This one is discontinued, but the shelves are adjustable and should fit the center channel. I saw them at BestBuy: http://www.bdiusa.com/theater/icon_9429.shtml http://www.sanus.com/us/en/products/av-foundations/av-platinum/PFV60 http://www.bello.com/images/products/CW343_SpecSheet_032812.pdf TPC361 at: http://www.bello.com/index.php?partition=show_product&categ_id=39&prod_id=294&tab=1 TPC2128 at http://www.bello.com/index.php?partition=show_product&categ_id=39&prod_id=295&tab=1 And this one, *may* require minor modification: http://www.standoutdesigns.com/collectio...ole-media-stand
