Yep... remember that room modes (reinforcement from standing waves) happen in all three dimensions. A few people have reported success from lifting the sub up in order to avoid having a null at the listener's height, although usually you can get good enough results by moving the sub around on the floor.

The main point is that sitting in the center of the room (in any direction) is generally a Bad Thing if your sub is in the corner.
