Thanks for the information. I have the same question...it appears that the cable from monoprice is something that I might pick up from Home Depot, minus the connections. Is it just standard RG6 coaxial cable because it looks just like the stuff running from my cable outlet to my DirecTV receiver.

If that is the case, I would like to have nice and clean connections through my walls with a cable tv type wall plate at each place that it comes out of the wall.

Just as mdrew said, however, is it O.K. to splice that type of connection? In my case, I would go from the receiver to a wall, splice, go up the wall and over the ceiling down the rear wall, splice, and then connect to the sub. Does that make any sense?
