In a standard sized room (let's call that er..mmm...14'x20' ?,) 12 DIY acoustical panels (bass traps) would go along way to creating a reflection-free and bass managed critical listening area. I can present a detailed explanation if anyone's interested, however ANYTHING written by Jeff Szymanski would suffice as proper and useful education.
