In your case and mine, our subs sit on carpeted floor on concrete. I don't believe there is any need to isolate at all. I use the carpet spikes and I drove them all the way below my carpet and under-lay so that they contact the concrete. It's nice and solid.
But others live in apartments with hardwood and were wondering how to isolate. That's how I came up with the idea. I don't know how well it will work but it doesn't cost anything to try it.
You can still use this insert without damaging the carton. In my case, I don't have the room for storage. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that I'll never have to send any of this stuff back. BTW, I have nothing to upgrade to
