OK, I don't know what I did...

I was watching Clone Wars this morning and hit one of the buttons to bring up the control panel during playback. Triangle button I think. I hit the button again and the pop up/overlay disappears. But when a new scene comes up, the control reappears. What's going on? I can't get rid of it and I can't watch a movie and keep hitting the button.

Dangit.
